TotallyOz Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 I have a nice TV that has speakers throughout the apartment. However, they are not working and the DVD isn't working properly. I am looking for a Thai guy that is good at electronics. Does anyone have any recommendations? Suggestions? Quote
Gaybutton Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 I can't remember the name of the place, but that electronics repair shop in the basement of Tuk Com is very good. If no one posts a better suggestion, I'd start with them. Quote
Guest terrychris Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Sometimes you have to wonder if buying new is actually cheaper than getting it repaired? Maybe this is more the case in the West where plasma TV'S would be cheaper to replace. Quote
Bob Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Not sure about the DVD player (could be anything) but your speaker problem is likely just a wiring issue. Very unlikely that a speaker would go out and certainly not more than one. You'll obviously need somebody to wade into the maze behind your tv to figure out what's happening (and everything could be wired through the dvd player or surround system if you have one of those). Just for the hell of it, might want to check your tools (or some equivalent name) section of your tv, surround system, and dvd player to make sure the sound is on (and/or turned up high enough to hear). Guest fountainhall Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 your speaker problem is likely just a wiring issue My TV once went on the blink. I was getting a sort of picture but with circular bands of colour. So I got the Sony technician to come over at a cost of around Bt. 400. The problem? The aerial socket had popped out! Now the wiring is the first thing I check if anything goes wrong! Quote

TotallyOz Posted November 5, 2012 Author Posted November 5, 2012 Did mg get a FREE OFF in return for his electronics expertise? :-) I don't think I'm his type. But, thanks for thinking of me Jim. It is always great to have people that are so willing to help fellow travelers. Today was just one of the reasons I love this site! Quote
Bob Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 That's it, leave us in suspense. So, what was the problem? Quote
TotallyOz Posted November 6, 2012 Author Posted November 6, 2012 That's it, leave us in suspense. So, what was the problem? OK. Well, I guess I didn't realize that my DVD was more than that. It was a surround sound entertainment system as well and all connected in order to work. Once I got the DVD to working via a HDMI cord, I then had to buy a few other cable cords in order to connect the UBC to the Panasonic DVD player in order for the Surround Sound to work. Mahjongguy told me exactly what to get and I sent the boys to the Tuk Com to buy this. The cords cost 60 baht. Doing this, I have to use multiple remotes in order to get it work perfectly and that is OK with me. I wanted to pick up the surround sound for the election results tomorrow morning. Quote
Guest thaiworthy Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 I wanted to pick up the surround sound for the election results tomorrow morning. You need surround sound for this? Oh yeah, for crying out of the left channel and cheering out of the right channel. Silly me! I don't know who the winner will be, but I am sure those are the correct results. Quote
kokopelli Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 I don't know who the winner will be, but I am sure those are the correct results. Koko is counting on Kuhn Worthy for his vote. Quote
