TotallyOz Posted October 26, 2012 Author Posted October 26, 2012 Did you read the post above where I said I ordered the small breakfast? I thought I said that. If not, my apologies. I ordered the small breakfast and I did not take photos of the pancakes. It was a huge breakfast! As for the dead animal. LOL You sound like my niece. I love dead animals. Quote

Guest thaiworthy Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 That's like a kiddies portion though. What Michael isn't telling you is that he ordered 2 more just like it after he took the picture. Quote
TotallyOz Posted October 30, 2012 Author Posted October 30, 2012 The Hilton in Pattaya is in a fantastic location. It is right on top of Central Festival and if you are looking for a hotel that is right in the middle of all the action, this place is great and very easy to get anywhere in Pattaya. They serve a great breakfast on the 15th Floor. The room overlooks the ocean and I love sitting outside and watching the parasailing boats fly by time and time again. The breakfast is open to all and really does have everything that you can possibly want in a breakfast. It has custom order omelets, pancakes, French toast, tons of meats, breads, Thai Food, Japanese Food and several choices of curry and Indian style food. I was a bit surprised when I went as I counted 46 tables full of customers and 49 of them were filled with Asian customers. There were many from Japan and Singapore. There were very few white guys or families there. The cost for the full buffet including all you can eat and drink is 550 baht and that includes the VAT and Service Charge. IMHO, this is still a great deal and if you don’t mind spending a bit of money, it is a great breakfast. I give this place 4.7 out of 5. Highly recommended for the food and the view. In other words, GREAT Bacon and GREAT Eggs! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99Kn0fNdg2g Quote
firecat69 Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Sure you splurge after I leave?? Hehe I will get even when I return! TotallyOz 1 Quote
Guest jcowle Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 I agree 'Papa David' was usually there and often made a point of checking everything was ok. I did read some where on one of the boards he had either retired or moved his restaurant elsewhere. Apologies if this information is incorrect. He sold it some months back Quote
2lz2p Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 I don't go out for breakfast much, preferring to eat at home. Some of the preceding posts mentioned sausage gravy, pancakes, and Jimmy Dean sausage (presumably meaning "patty" sausage instead of as we say in USA "link" sausage). You can get all three at Purple Space Monkey on Soi Chaiyapruek (traveling from Jomtien Beach Road toward Sukhumvit, it is on the left just past the new Jomiten 2nd Road intersection). Unfortunately, during low season, they do not open early for breakfast - they do open at 8:30am on Saturday & Sunday. I usually go for the biscuits with sausage gravy (they put a fried egg on the biscuit before pouring the cream gravy with large chunks of crumbled patty type sausage) - breakfast includes a choice of either coffee or orange juice. A few times, I have ordered the pancakes - two large served with plenty of maple syrup to pour over it - I haven't ordered it in a while, but when I did, I was able to order patty sausage as a side dish. On the weekends, they have brisket available - for breakfast, a sandwich, or a dinner plate - which was tender and tasty. As another poster mentioned, it is not easy to get to without having your own transportation; but it is the only place I have found in Pattaya that serves biscuits and sausage gravy (which is something I really enjoy as it is home cooking in the part of USA I come from). Guest anonone Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 I have always enjoyed some of the names of the various bars I have visited on my trips to Thailand...but I must say that having breakfast at someplace called "Purple Space Monkey" just sounds fun. I tend to stick with simple Thai shops when dining around Pattaya....but this is tempting. Quote
pennyboy Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 I tried Boat Bakery for breakfast and the only good thing about it was the price. Coffee was dreadful, scrambled egg overcooked and came with small bits of burnt bacon and the butter had been out of rhe fridge too long and ran like oil. For an extra 9bt Kiss is much better for a cheap breakfast. kokopelli 1 Quote
Up2u Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 A good friend heard that I was seeking the best breakfast in Pattaya and he offered to introduce me to a place that he likes. The place is called Tara Court and it is in the Pratumnak area of Pattaya. It is very easy to find if you are headed from Pattaya to Jomtien, you turn right at the red light and go down a few soi’s and it is on the left hand side and right on the main road after Soi 5. The place was busy and they seem to attract a nice crowd. They have a nice menu and part of it included pancakes that I heard were good so I wanted to try them. The pancakes were yummy. They cost 100 baht and they come in a plate of 2 large pancakes. If you are with a friend, you may want to share this. I also ordered the small breakfast and that had some ham, sausage, eggs, toast, juice and coffee. It was 110 baht. So, the prices were very reasonable. The food was very good and I really enjoyed the place. I also thought the staff was very friendly and accommodating. The prices are great and you do get a nice cup of coffee. It was nice to sit and chat with friends over a nice cup of coffee and they never rushed us out and bothered us. I definitely recommend the pancakes. Good food at good rates. I give this a 3.7 out of 5. My highest grade to date! I had the Irish breakfeast for 160 baht which includes toast , juice, tea or coffee. Large portions, very good food and definitely two thumbs up. We have not had dinner there recently but we always enjoyed the dinners there in the past. (Will try the pancakes next time.) TotallyOz 1 Quote
Gaybutton Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 Went to O'Garas and I can highly recommend the breakfeast I eat breakfast only rarely, but when I do and sausages are offered, my first question is whether the sausages actually taste like sausages. Too many restaurants serve those flavorless, insipid things they call sausage, but they're rarely any good. So, how are the sausages at O'Garas? They certainly look good in the photo. Lvdkeyes posted several sausage recipes on my board ( http://www.gaybuttonthai.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=4320 ). Usually, when I want breakfast and want sausage with it, I just make my own using one of his recipes and it always comes out good. Quote

They tasted like sausages to me, not like the liitle mini-dogs that many places serve. They do not have an American breakfeast so I had to tolerate the beans. Quote

But, some of us are not Betty Crocker and prefer to eat out. However, since you have become a homebody with cooking and baking, how about having a party and letting us us taste your wares. I'll take the bagels, and some sausage! Quote
Rogie Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 That's a great photo in post #35. Like many I have my likes and dislikes and most have been touched on: 1. sausages: the ones in Up2U's photo look ok so I am in agreement with GB there - but it pays to be wary; who wants to eat an inferior product for breakfast, a meal with the potential to set you up for the whole day? Decent breakfast sausages are sadly seldom encountered. Can you buy sausage-makers? Same idea as bread machines for example. That would be fun and I'd love to try my hand at that - otherwise, I doubt I'll be rushing over to GBT to check out the 'hands on' recipes; sounds like too much of a steep learning curve for me. 2. baked beans versus tomato: you can't beat some nice tomato wedges cooked just enough to be soft and juicy. The ones in the photo look good. Some places substitute tinned (canned) tomatoes but they just don't cut it for me, like eating instant mashed potato versus the real thing. Some places offer beans or tomato. I often say no to baked beans even if tomato is offered as well. I hate it when the beans are all runny and the juice slops all over the plate. I like the way the beans are served in that photo - in their own tiny dish. 3. There is no #3. I just realised if I carry on I'll end up listing about a dozen things I'm fussy about . . . guess that's more or less everything. TotallyOz 1 Quote
MrBill Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 At least once every trip to Pattaya I go to Cafe Royale for their Banana pancake (one). It's made to order so it does take a litte bit of wait time, but the thing fills the entire plate and is (or was the last times I had it) so light with an intense flavor of a ripe banana. That and a glass of OJ fills me for a morning of exploration. TotallyOz 1 Quote
Up2u Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 Returned to Ogaras and a friend opted for the pancakes and bacon, as shown. He enjoyed very much. Quote
MrBill Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 I wouldn't categorize this as a "little gem" but I had the breakfast buffet at the Marriott by Royal Garden this morning while waiting for the tour to Nong Nooch. I love Marriotts for their buffets and this one was as good as any I have had before. All you can eat (dangerous for me), cereals, a cold curt station, bar with fresh fruit and juices freshly squeezed before your eyes, omelet station, various pastries, and an area with Thai, Japanese and Indian selections. A bit pricey at 650 bht to which they add 165 bht in service changes and VAT. I wouldn't do it often at that price, but the food was, fresh & hot and service was attentive. For a special occasion or change of pace, I would recommend it. Quote
