Taipei Gay Pride Parade 2012

Damn! I'm now in love (about the 17th photo showing the Aquix swimwear with lime green & yellow side bands). I was hoping that you would allow me my fantasy as to what the wearer of that outfit might look like but I do see him wearing a blue tie in a couple of other photos; nevertheless, like many others, a fine-looking dude.

As usual, some very nice photos.

Thanks for posting another set of excellent photos, Fountainhall.

The pair of guys in Aqux swimwear are really cute. The blue & white camouflage style swim wear deserves a mention too.

I think I will do more then overnight next time I am in Taipei. Thanks for the great pictures.

He and his bf were in Taipei for several days around Pride so his blog has many entries about Taipei.

Thanks for the interesting link. Shame they went for the week-end and then did not bother to go to the Parade itself! I did not attend the official Pride parties as they started too late for me. But I did visit the Red House complex and, as the blogger points out, it was absolutely jam-packed on both Friday and Saturday evenings. I don't quite agree that it rivals Shinjuku ni-chome or Soi Twilight, though, as it is primarily a cluster of bars and restaurants. And it can be pretty empty during weekday evenings. But it is a great place to start exploring the city's gay life.

That's a strange bit of decision making. For those who did miss it, are there any more of these superb pictures on your SIM card? :p

As requested! For those interested in attending, the 2013 Taipei Pride Parade will be held on Saturday 26 October.

Thank you again Fountainhall. I'm guessing the cute one with the red rucksack is one of your favourites? ^_^

Well, if either of these guys knocked on my door, I'd certainly offer them in for a drink and . . . ;)

The boy with the bow tie is certainly cute. He's a student and was marching with a group from his university. I recognised him from last year when I took these pics -

I'm in Taipei right now. I don't see anyone walking around in swimming trunks. But unless my gaydar is completely miscalibrated, this place is GAY GAY GAY. So many cute gay guys around town. Unless they're not gay but just have a gay-ish fashion sense.

I forgot how much I sweat in this part of the world.

Staying at the Grand Hyatt on points. Impeccable service. Really nice place.

I like the vibe here very much. And I love the public transport system. There are a lot of cities that could take note. Including my hometown of Washington DC with our horrible Metro. I guess it just proves that if the city and country are committed to public transportation and the investment required, great things are possible.

Haven't been to the gayborhood yet. But plan to drop by there around dinner time tomorrow.

Don't forget to go to the hot spring up in the hills near Shipai MRT station. When I was there 3 weeks ago, it was pretty busy in a Monday afternoon, then a bit of a lull around 6:30, but it was humming again at 7:30 with over 80 guys there. It's not a sauna, but a great place to chill out and see some gorgeous guys in all their glory.

I recognise some of them from last year & that's without ever having been there....

Are there any more pictures from this years parade?

Posted

Thanks for the hot spring tip. Unfortunately it's been a couple of rainy days. Today even rainier. Tomorrow I head out with my guide to the east coast and down to Taroko for a couple of days. Was planning to daytrip down to Tainan on Monday on the HSR, but might skip that and just stay in TPE. The weather isn't looking too great for the rest of my visit either unfortunately.

Off to the National Palace Museum today.

Sorry, z909, I am presently away on a 2-week trip to Jordan ad Europe, and all the photos are on my desktop at home. However, I don't think there are many different photos from those already posted. If there are, I'll post on my return.

I hope they are still displaying the small piece of green and white jade which was carved into a tiny dragonfly sitting on a cabbage. It is utterly exquisite.

Didn't see those particular pieces. I think they rotate things frequently since the collection is enormous and the display space is surprisingly limited.

Saw a great exhibit of old maps though.

Went to Royal Spa for a massage. It was pretty good. The massage itself was quite good. But a little too strong I think. The happy ending was pretty happy. Not sure if it is the same everywhere or just my particular masseur but he wouldn't let me do much with him. A bit pricey. Nice place though. I think I might try out another spa next time.

Lovers of culture might like to note that searching You Tube for "Taiwan Gay Pride 2012" and earlier years brings up some nice HD videos.

Just booked my ticket to Taiwan for 2013 pride...as long as it happens the last weekend of October as usual. Hopefully the weather will be improved over my trip last Nov.

After moving around on different days,  two years ago the date was fixed as the last Saturday in October in future. The last two years the weather has been perfect. I did see a report from an earlier parade when it rained. But I can assure you that won't dampen anyone's spirits! See you there!

This abang (which means big brother in Malay) was there last year and I would have to say, the weather did not dampen my spirit.  Yes as an Asian myself, I was fascinated by the company of all the HOT HOT guys around.

What was I wearing?

No, I did have clothes on (unlike my avatar)... but not much... imagination runs wild, here?

But this year.. can we do a little organisation here?

Perhaps we can meet up...

Fountainhall has taken some lovely photos in 2011 and 2012.

As for 2013 photos, why not have some healthy to have some competition amongst the members?

Although I do hope we don't get too many of our members sneaking into the shots.

For anyone going who doesn't know, I'll brief them on z909's tastes in photos  :p
