Guest fountainhall Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Big ad in the Bangkok Post today for Lady Gaga’s Bangkok concert on Friday 25 May. It’s expensive, with tickets up to Bt. 7,000. Note that it will be at the cavernous open-air Rajamalanga Stadium. This seats around 50,000 and is located off Ramkhamhaeng in the Hua Mark area. There is no Skytrain or MRT station anywhere near, but the Airport Express City Line’s Ramkhamhaeng Station gets you fairly close. Tickets go on sale at Thaiticketmajor online and at their various outlets on 17 March. http://www.thaiticketmajor.com/concert/concert-detail.php?sid=1195&la=en Quote
Guest Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Lady Gaga Had to look this artist up on Wikipedia . OK, I'd obviously heard of her, but wouldn't recognise her by appearance or style of music. Are you a fan?As evidence I'm not completely of touch, I have albums from other artists dating from as recently as 2011. Quote
KhorTose Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 I and my BF are going, but I do hope I can buy the tickets on-line. I looked at the seating chart and somewhere in the 3500 each is in my range. If anyone has been to this performance hall I would appreciate some advice as to where to sit. Quote
Guest fountainhall Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 It's an open-air soccer stadium with, I believe, a running track around the outside. So in the Bt. 3,500 seats you will be a minimum of the width of a soccer pitch away from the stage. Looking at the chart, you are virtually as good sitting in the Bt. 1,500 seats near the side. From that distance, you will still see the stage well and have as good a view of the vdo screens. But these seats will be snapped up very fast. Quote
Guest anonone Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Had to look this artist up on Wikipedia . OK, I'd obviously heard of her, but wouldn't recognise her by appearance or style of music. Are you a fan? As evidence I'm not completely of touch, I have albums from other artists dating from as recently as 2011. I am not sure I would be classified as a "fan", but I do like her music. Her style / fashion nonsense is not my thing, but her songs are quite good. Quote
Guest fountainhall Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Had to look this artist up on Wikipedia I'm quite surprised. Even those who do not like her music or her flamboyant style would, I'd have thought, be tuned in to her very pronounced views advocating gay rights. This has a lot of people, especially in religious communities, working their butts off to denounce her. Having googled Lady Gaga's views on gays this morning, I came across the churchleaders.com website, and there is an entire article by a man named David about Lady Gaga's song "Born This Way". Among many gay references, the lyrics include - "Rejoice and love yourself today 'Cause Baby, you were born this way No matter gay, straight, or bi, Lesbian, transgendered life I'm on the right track, baby I was born to survive . . . " This sanctimonious bigot examines virtually every line and dissects it - lovingly and in honeyed tones, of course - to show how the dear Lady Gaga has got it all wrong. If we were to sum up this song’s message, we’d say, “Lady Gaga believes homosexuals are born that way, so let them live that lifestyle because they cannot help it.” As lovingly and respectfully as we can, we must say there’s a lot about this song, and its message, that’s intrinsically wrong and internally incongruent. Whilst I viewed this long article with some distaste, I couldn't help but reflect that this man and his views represent the very congregation that the Michelle Bachmanns of this world preach to. And his answers give me a better idea why Bachmann is so dogmatic and unswerving in her views. For this David seems to be a virtual mirror image of the Congresswoman (sex apart!). We can keep the conversation about sex, but switch to a heterosexual orientation. I’ll humbly display some personal vulnerability here to make the point. I, David, am a married man, a man who gave certain promises to a certain woman on September 15, 2001 (yep, just days after the terrorist attacks). Those promises must define me as a husband, father, pastor, and person…even though, at times, a promise-breaking sexual desire (or two) rears its ugly head in my mind or heart. Am I to say to myself – and my wife – when a beautiful woman walks by, “Well, ‘there’s no other way,’ so I’m just gonna give in to these strong urges I feel…and go have an affair”? Let me, Jonathan, take it a step further—and I apologize ahead of time for this taboo example. But what if a voluptuous 14-year-old girl walked by David when he was sitting by the swimming pool. If David were to allow himself to look at her body and observe it’s beauty, he could very realistically start desiring her. I know many of you might think, “That’s sick!” Trust me, as a father of a 13-year-old girl and a 15-year-old girl, I readily agree. But do you realize how many men look at porn sites that advertise “Teens”? Let’s face it. Women—even young girls—look good to men. So should men just give themselves up to that desire and say, “Wow, I guess I was just born with this desire?” http://www.churchlea...n-this-way.html Even though the writer seems to get mixed up about whether he's Jonathan or David, we know that many of those who give in to temptation or indulge in what he calls taboo sex are the very ones who rant against it. Be careful, David - or Jonathan - or Jimmy Swaggart - or Jim Bakker - or . . . ! What makes the article so illuminating is that it has links every now and then to other religious sites to back up the writer's views. One from a site titled The Source for Youth Ministry takes stars to task for not being sincere about their professed religious views. Goodness, even cute Justin Bieber doesn't escape criticism. He, it claims, "takes a pass on 'religion' but speaks of an attachment to the Christian faith." It goes on - the truth of the matter is, most celebrities stink at being biblical teachers. Musicians make music. Actors make movies. Dancers dance, and so on. When it comes to finding entertainment, sure, turn to a celebrity. But when it comes to understanding God’s Word, search out an expert, namely pastors and godly parents. We wouldn’t go to Justin Bieber for medical advice; why go to him for spiritual advice? http://www.thesource...cle.aspx?ID=163 Another link makes a pathetic parallel between Lady Gaga fever and Swine 'flu - America has Gaga fever, which I hear is a little more contagious than H1N1. The question is what’s the cure? http://www.thesource...icle.aspx?ID=95 So, good on you, Lady G! And welcome to Bangkok! Quote
