New budget lodging in Silom area?

Recommended Posts

Put this with a Q-mark, as I am not sure if posted before-but it looked so new I guess not.

Anyway: passed by yesterday, and saw signs for a new place advertising rooms for 799B/introductory offer, in Silom soi 6-the first small side-soi to left -end of it. Looked like not even being used-but the reception is the far end, BF included and free wiFi, 24 hrs reception. (psst! thats NOT boyfriend incl! Name is like Nantra-but when I googled for that, I only found ads for a budget place in Tonglor with that name.

Now inevitably on a board like this anxious people start asking: Gayfriendly? I did not ask-I simply think logic: in this area any HTL must expect to have single guests bringing in company for the night-and as TiTs-just 1 more time: they do not discriminate between same or other sex in that respect. Unless you belong to the family who cannot stand a female guest at all in some place-but then thats your problem.

I kinda like Pong's abbreviations. It gives his posts character and personality. Those that are consistent are HTL, TH, NoKo and SoKo (for north and south Korea,) and perhaps some are on-purposely misspelled words like promoshens (for promotions) and now this latest one, BF.

It shows individuality and a creative spirit. I didn't understand it at first, and thought it was hard to read, but it kinda grows on you.

Evrybdy duz it. With words like kinda, wanna, "4" for for, sez for says, cuz for because, 555, mebbe for maybe, etcetera, etcetera and so 4th. It's the language of the internet.

But we could use some new ones, Pong.

khap khun krap-its othwerwise soooo boring to type it all neatly. BNack home they call it SMS-lingo-frowned on, as its mainly done by teeners.

@1. this is just very simple: wordly translation of how it is called in THai-as is the case with a few more of these '''misspelt''. Asking for promotion the Brit way leads to nowhere- its promoSYEN. Just like it is oPEN for just ''not closed''.

@2, actually it was spelt as such on the outer windows of this place. In TH you usually see ABF=american brekkie, but I have never ever seen that as such while travelling in the USA. We-simple contintentals who do without fried eggs in the morning, call it always the standard British Breakfast.

I wonder what the shortened form of Continental Breakfast is, which is how we Brits describe the non-cooked type of breakfast? I have seen CP written on some sites = Continental Plan. But I don't recall ever having seen +CB. (cute boys? :p )

Just who are these simple continentals? Us simple Brits look across the English Channel in awe at our sophisticated continental cousins (most Brits have a fair smattering of European blood in 'em such as Viking - Danish or Norwegian or German from the Saxons or Norman French) swishing around in their little red open-topped Alphas in Rome or in their Traction Avant Citroens shooting out of Parisian side-roads without looking.

A glance at the breakfast menu of Papa David's in Pattaya lists the following:

English (British)

Continental

Dutch

German

French

Norwegian

Belgian

American

Swiss

Italian

Etc

Spot the odd one out. By the way, I love that 'etc', make up your own kind of DIY brekkie I suppose it means.

I shall go for the BF(CB) .

Failing that, some fruit, joghurt, juice, croissant & a good coffee makes up the perfect breakfast.

In the UK, the Irish "Jurys" chain have the perfect selection (for my palate).

back to this hotel: they also had a stand at the latest Thai travel fair. Normal price for now is 999 bt/deluxe room and 1299/exclusive room. They told me the current 800 is a walk-in discount only for unreserved rooms. The BF is C=continental-so choose which one from the list above here might fit that bill. And for 2-which means there cannot be any objective against ''guests''.
