Visiting Bkk in March

Hi guys,

apparently I've had a membership in this forum for some time so I'm pretty sure I already came, read and asked for tips.. but that must have been 3 years ago or so.. and I have a horrible memory so here I am again to ask for some tips..

I'll be spending a beach holiday in Thailand next month after which I will spend 4 days in Bkk mainly to get yet another awesome tattoo in Khao San.. and I'm hoping the bleeding, swelling and hurting from the ink won't stop me from enjoying some massages...

My expertise is the Arab world (in fact my bf is arab) but I do enjoy an Asian every now and again.. some years ago I studied what I considered the Thai Massage 101: Shameless Mack but I can't seem to access it anymore (as I've read here Mack must be on some kind of sabbatical from his blog)

Anyways, I like big guys, masculine and muscular. On my previous experience I had an excellent time at Hero and above all at Albury with my darling S (Sirasak I think) and with those amazing TWINS they had... :p

That is why I chose back then to stay in a hotel in Soi 11 and I will do the same this time around ;)

I have completely forgotten how it works with costs of massages and tips... how I have to behave at all...

And this time around I really wanna visit Tawan... being a bit of a shy guy I'd prefer to know what I'm getting myself into before I venture..

I read in many posts and forums that the Tawan guys can be a handful both regarding price and attitude...

Thanks for your kind help and replies!

John

Hi John,

Horrible memory you may have khun Eradesso but as you've been before within 24 hours it'll be as if you've never been away.

Sorry I can't help regarding the kind of guys you prefer as I don't like big muscular men myself. But you are quite right to try and sort out your agenda for Bangkok before you visit, as you will only be there four days.

Reading your post it would seem you will be in Pattaya for the lion's share of your time in Thailand. Perhaps you are intending just to relax and concentrate on the beach. Was there anything else you were planning to do when there?

Thanks for your reply Rogie... I will definitely not be in Pattaya. I'm a beach fanatic, well, to say it better, I'm a beautiful beach fanatic. And that pretty much clears Pattaya off my TO GO list..

I'll be in a secluded area of Phuket where there isn't even a massage parlour and it's an hour away from Patong too lol

I would have stayed there 2 weeks straight but I have the incredible urge to get another massive tattoo and also do some shopping... the sex will be a minor (but extremely fun of course) part as I will fly back from Bkk to Egypt and stop in my second home (Cairo) which is where I will get my real fix ehehe

I really must get my eyes tested! That'll teach me not to go making assumptions.

Back to the serious stuff! There is a blog written by Bangkokbois which has featured a few times on this message board. Here is a link to his opinion and experiences at Tawan. I found it interesting even though it's not my scene.

If you're going to Phuket, presumably that means just one or 2 nights in Bangkok before going south? Just set a generous budget for the time in Bangkok & have fun. After all, there should be a lot less to spend it on 1 hour away from Patong beach.

Tawan isn't my scene either -the guys stood outside are not my type, so I never step inside.

From the other BKK gogo bars, 1500 baht for short time seems to be acceptable.

wat too much IMHO. But he asked for massageshops-that amount should cover the whole thing, inc. the tip for the masseur.

Well-Hero and Albury are both still there-though most likely your old masseurs will have moved on. Practice has not changed a bit: you step in, make a choice for what type of assage and which one(reception should be able to help and tell what the boys are up to) and then the thing starts. After you pay the fee for massage to desk-no tip needed, and tip your masseur-they have mostly ''minimum'' or suggested tips on their menu. For the Thai the minimum is omitted-thats simply the amount to pay.

Albury can be viewed on a site named thaimassageboy-click on pricelist and you see the basics-its a paid ad list, and you subscribe to see more of the boys.

Albury is linked to JEY spa-also on that site, a bit further on in Sukhumvit, Emporium/Japantown, which is more quiet, cheaper, very well kept and has a smaller but same style choice of boys.

Tawan is not my liking at all-overblown superego's with plastic bodies, who are often reported to be total duds in private beds. They had their 25th anniversary a week ago or so.

Albury's site quotes a minimum tip of Bt. 1,000 for the masseur. As k. pong noticed, Rogie's post referred to go-go boys where in the Silom /Suriwong area that is indeed what they expect for a short time, although towards the end of an evening the rate may be a bit less.

Judging from previous posts on this site, Hero seems to be the most recommended for massage. If you look up the Thailand section of cruisingforsex.com, you will find quite a number of negative comments about 'offs' from Tawan. But I'm another who does not patronise that establishment.

Thank you all for the kind replies!

I will be spending 24 hours in BKK before flying to HKT but then I will head back to BKK on the 16th and leave the 20th so I have plenty time.. most my late mornings and early afternoons will be busy with getting tattooed and i've already visited all of Bkk in my previous stays...

But I swear I've never entered a gogo bar (not a gay one at least lol) and I figured I'd choose Tawan simply because I prefer muscular guys... not necessarily because I'd wanna off someone but more because I'd like it to be an "exciting" experience as opposed to entering a bar full of trannies or feminine skinny boys with weird haircuts where i would just get bored and angry at myself for spending the money of the drinks to see that :)

I suddenly remembered one thing I didn't like about Hero... the foom was f*kin freezing!!!!

Well, if spending 5 nights in Bangkok, you have plenty of time to enter Tawan AND most of the gogo bars on Soi Duangthawee. That's exactly what I would recommend.

I don't think ANY of the gogo bars in that area will have any trannys on stage. There may be a few ladyboy waiters, but these are in the minority and can be swiftly sent away.

If you step inside a gogo bar, you are perfectly entitled to take a look at the stage and if it's not to your liking, walk right back out. However, loitering without intent to buy a drink would be bad form.

Also, why not stop for a drink at quite a few of the bars?

Having spent all that money getting to Thailand, spend just a little bit more enjoy the unique aspects of the Thai gay scene. After all, I bet you don't get that type of entertainment in your hometown.

You've never seen the gay clubs in Milan...lol

Of course you can't off the dancers with the same "procedures" and easyness as thailand and certainly not the same price...but most of them are...available, so to speak!

Anyways I will follow your advice and have my share of fun!!! Thank you!
