Rogie Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 A couple of points: 1) There used to be an easy way to go from one forum to another via a drop-down menu located in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen. That has disappeared since the makeover. So for example if I am browsing the posts in the main Gay Thailand forum and wish to directly visit the Beer Bar I have to go. . . Gay Thailand forum --> Main Forum menu --> Beer Bar forum. 2) I may be wrong but I seem to recall there used to be the option to PM a member if you wanted to discuss or comment on a particular post he'd made. The icon was part of the mini member's profile along with date joined, number of posts, etc. Whether I am right or not in thinking that, it would be useful to have the option of having the original post as it appears on the forum as part of your PM to that member. I hope I am making sense here! Quote
Guest fountainhall Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Another little problem - at least on my computer. When I tried to post a poll today, I could not see either "Manage Poll" or the Poll icon. I got Rogie to help guide me, but it was just not there. I use Safari, but when I switched to Firefox, voilà, there was "ge Poll". It seems that there needs to be a little tweaking on that line. Quote
Rogie Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Not a problem this time, I thought I would mention a good feature! The topic Lost in Paradise, new gay Vietnamese film, has had over 270 views which is excellent for a topic in one of the less-frequented forums, in this case Gay Vietnam. I attribute this to it having featured prominently in the Recent Topics section on the right hand side of the main forum page. So, as a kind of positive discrimination, it seems to have encouraged far more views than would be normally expected. In order to compare I looked for a topic posted on or near to the 19/1/12 which had, like the Vietnamese film thread, received either no replies or at most one reply. The topic War Horse - the movie fitted the bill (sorry, couldn't resist!). To date it has received 129 views in the Beer Bar forum. That is a pretty clear demonstration of the utility of the Recent Topics column. Quote
Rogie Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Another good example is the Miss Blue Chilli International Queen 2011 this was posted on the Gay Cambodia sub-forum on 18/12/11 and has to date had 2 replies and 390 views. Again, referring back to the Beer Bar for a similar period, the middle of December, only The most expensive car crash in history has had more views (407) but that topic had 13 replies. Many other topics initiated mid-December have had less than 300 views and some less than 200. One topic (Our Local Black Hole ready for a Snack!) has had 10 replies and 277 views. Quote
Guest badcdn Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Last week in the Cathay Prem Econ thread I had an issue. I was logged in, posted a comment however the only post options that appeared after were "Quote" & "Multi Quote". Today, again logged in, I wanted to post but a comment but at the top of each page where the "Reply" button is appeared the message "You Cannot Reply". I confirmed I was logged in. Refreshed the page, closed all windows, logged out...finally somewhere along the way it started working again. (Initially I thought I had been banned for some reason, maybe for bashing CX's Y seats.) I'm on laptop with WinXP, (fresh install), Firefox 10.0.2, and yes, Java, Flash and all that good stuff is installed with the lastest versions - so not working with anything exotic or kinky, maybe slightly outdated. No biggie on my end....FYI. Why WinXP? This is my last Microsoft OS device. When it dies, hello Mac, however I'm not willing to give up my Firefox. Apparently there's no option to edit posts. Unless you are using an unusual browser, the edit button is located between the report and quote buttons, although it is not as prominent as the latter. Posts can be edited for up to an hour after posting. Quote

Rogie Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 In post #51 I mentioned the drop down menu which disappeared following the makeover - it still hasn't made a reappearance. As far as I am aware it is a simple piece of software - other less sophisticated Message Boards / Forums have it. Now on to some new problems. I will have to double check this on other browsers, but using IE for a few days now I cannot use the quote function. If I go back in and edit it yes, I can use the quote. As of a day or so ago things have got worse, none of the 'rich text' functions are available to use, even when I try and use the 'full editor' option. So basically I am restricted to 'plain text'. Not a problem, just a suggestion. The Recent Topics list on the right hand side of the main forum screen is very useful and better with more topics showing, like it is at the moment. That was changed a few days ago. However it leaves a yawning gap immediately on the left under the forum index. One suggestion would ne to increase the size of the forum index text; it is quite small and not that easy to read, for example the Gay Asia section where a lot of text is crammed into a small space. Rogie Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 I have absolutely no similar problems using Safari or Firefox. I've changed back to Chrome which is what I had been using until recently and all back to normal. Sorry for the false alarm, unless somebody else can corroborate my IE problem. Quote
Guest Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 IE problem. Just ditch IE. Firefox, Chrome or even Opera should do the job.I use Firefox, although if a Tabmix add on ever appears for Chrome, that might just become my number 1 browser. Quote
