Guest Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Some pictures of the sand & sea at Dongtan beach. Quote
Rogie Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 It's always good to see some classic beach photos. May I enquire if you have any more where those came from? The standard is very high. It's great to see young men enjoying the beach, even though we know it's hardly paradise to see them is very uplifting. Quote
Guest thaiworthy Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Nice to see the entire photo from which your avatar was made. You have excellent taste, Z. Too bad the face was cropped, but delightful none-the-less. Quote
Bob Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Some pictures of the sand & sea at Dongtan beach. I must not be very observant as I didn't notice any sand or sea. Quote
Guest fountainhall Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 I must not be very observant as I didn't notice any sand or sea. Look more closely - there's one grain of sand on that gorgeous body in the third pic! Quote
Guest travelerjim Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Look more closely - there's one grain of sand on that gorgeous body in the third pic! Fountainhall... Is that you who in the first photo is holding hands with that gorgeous Thai? I might add, you do have class! tj Quote

Guest Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Nice to see the entire photo from which your avatar was made. You have excellent taste, Z. Too bad the face was cropped, but delightful none-the-less. Taking beach photos is surprisingly difficult. One can be relaxing, then there's a mad panic to get the camera out, wait for ages for it to wake up & then zoom in. By this time, some ice cream seller has often moved in to block the view, or he's 10 metres further up the beach. Of course I could run down the beach after them, but that's a bit undignified. Camera switch on delays really do matter.... Here are a few more. The third one from this set looked really good from the front (white with orange bands), but I missed him go past & he changed outfit before the next pass by. Most of this sexy gear seems to be on sale at the stall in Tuk Com. Quote
Bob Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Very nice photos, Z. I've been up here in the boonies so long that I've forgotten what visual delights the beach sometimes offers. Quote
KhorTose Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Z you have a good eye for scenery. Thanks, and please take your camera everytime you go to the beach. Quote
Rogie Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 In photo #4 in post #9 the young man on the right is partially obscured by some rigging - what a shame! He is not wearing speedos but has captured my imagination! Please, any chance of a repeat sighting and full exposure? Quote
Guest Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Please, any chance of a repeat sighting and full exposure? Partially. Here's the repeat sighting, including a lovely boat. Sadly I didn't get his whole face, being too slow of the mark & also thinking more about the swimwear in this photo. There would be more photos if I had enough anticipation to get around the 5 seconds it takes to boot up & move to full zoom. Quote
Guest Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Just been measuring the speed of a Panasonic TZ9, with Class 10 SD card. Start up to taking first photo 2.5~3 sec (no zoom) Time to extend to full zoom 3 sec (no other actions) Time between shots ~31 sec for 10 shots, so about 3 seconds a shot. Enabling BURST mode allows about 3 shots to be taken in 3 seconds, with a slight delay afterwards for writing data, resulting in about 9 shots taken in 15 seconds. Switching from a class 10 to class 4 card still maintains the time for 9 shots at around 15 seconds. The camera does not appear to permit adjustment of zoom whilst it is writing the photo to the card. So the one lesson I learn for next time is to enable Burst mode. Quote
Rogie Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Sadly I didn't get his whole face, Maybe not, but he's taken a shine on you judging by that lovely smile on his face, at least that's how it appears although I realise you may have used your trusty zoom. So the one lesson I learn for next time is to enable Burst mode. Your rather dry and technical description (at least to me, well over my head) cannot hide the fact that you clearly get a lot of fun out of your photographic material Quote
Guest thaiworthy Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 So the one lesson I learn for next time is to enable Burst mode. After viewing so many of your lovely pictures Z, I am already in burst mode. What's this boy's focal length? Is it as enormous as it appears to be? This has to be the best thread of 2012 and we're only 5 days into the New Year! I wish I could sit next to you at the beach while you are taking these pictures. My radar is very fine tuned for this sort of thing, but mebbe you don't need me, since you're already doing a fantastic job all by yourself. Keep 'em coming. You may have a long way to go before you catch up to ChaseLB, but then, who's counting? Quote

Excellent photos. I miss Dongtan (especially with snow here). Three long weeks until I can once again view in person. Thanks for whetting the appetite ! Quote
Guest fountainhall Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 The boy on the right seems a real stunner! When I first saw the partial photo, I made out three pairs of hands which I thought were interlinked!! Great photos! I normally just take my point and press camera when I occasionally get to the beach. You have spurred me to pop my long zoom camera into my bag when I next visit at the end of next month. Quote

Guest thaiworthy Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 I wish someone had the guts to post your picture, bkkguy. Suitable for framing, or just being framed. Quote
bkkguy Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 I wish someone had the guts to post your picture, bkkguy. Suitable for framing, or just being framed. so a moderator may be ignoring the privacy rules here and the best you can suggest is to ignore the rules for my picture as well? and let me tell you they would really need a wide angle lens because I have more "guts" than would fit in a standard lens! but pontificate all you like, you still haven't answered the question - while you where drooling over z909's pics did you assume/know permission had been granted or you don't care or it is different for Thai guy pics? and z909 - or the forum managers - is suggesting someone post a picture of me to get me "framed" enough to constitute banning thaiworthy for breach of forum rules? and if the moderators and owners had enough "guts" they would admit they had a problem here! it always surprises me that criticism of the "pillars" of this forum are totally unacceptable but anyone else is fair game! bkkguy Quote
KhorTose Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 and z909 - or the forum managers - is suggesting someone post a picture of me to get me "framed" enough to constitute banning thaiworthy for breach of forum rules? it always surprises me that any criticism of the "pillars" of this forum are totally unacceptable but anyone else is fair game! No, you are barking up the wrong tree. I and others have been critical of Z, Michael and GB on this board when it was called for. Thaiworthy is just another poster who I think is sometimes too quick on the gun, but I am sure he means well. As to your question was permission granted, as per board rules? Probably not. However, the boys are obviously (to me) at the beach to be seen, they are not in a compromising location or place, and since there are thousands of boys that use the beach they do have a great degree of anonymity. While I am the first to harp at one moderators lack use of any rule, I think even a cursory examination of the basis for the rules of this board should lead you to believe that the purpose of these rules is to avoid causing harm to another. Unless you go into improbable contortions, I doubt you can show where any harm was caused by the posting of these pictures. No harm no crime. By the way, I am just a poster and my opinion may or may not be the moderators. Since this is a question about the board rules wouldn't it be best address the question at him/her rather then what sound like at attack on the board itself? I do hope you are for real and not just some jerk looking to start fights. If you are real, welcome to the board. Quote
bkkguy Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 No, you are barking up the wrong tree. ... Thaiworthy is just another poster who I think is sometimes too quick on the gun, but I am sure he means well. according to whose standards - yours? the board's? Jomtien beach society? As to your question was permission granted, as per board rules? Probably not. However, the boys are obviously (to me) at the beach to be seen, they are not in a compromising location or place, and since there are thousands of boys that use the beach they do have a great degree of anonymity. so again this is what the management here construes as "tacit approval for such information to be made available"? I think even a cursory examination of the basis for the rules of this board should lead you to believe that the purpose of these rules is to avoid causing harm to another. Unless you go into improbable contortions, I doubt you can show where any harm was caused by the posting of these pictures. No harm no crime. don't ask me about the harm - ask the guys who tell their parents they are waiters at restaurants in Pattaya then are photographed at the gay beach on a site like this! and when was the last time you where at Jomtien gay beach and saw "thousands" of non-waiters and other non-gay residents innocently walking along this stretch of beach? By the way, I am just a poster and my opinion may or may not be the moderators. Since this is a question about the board rules wouldn't it be best address the question at him/her rather then what sound like at attack on the board itself? heaven forbid we should attack a forum for a moderator going against its own constitution however I have already addressed this issue with the management but do not expect a much more considered response from them than from you or Thaiworthy! maybe we should just rename this to the Puea Thai web site - double standards seem to be the order of the day! bkkguy Quote
Guest fountainhall Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 Well, well, well! So bkkguy, who likes to take pot shots at members of this Board from time to time, is setting himself up as the arbiter of the Board! Has he actually read the rules, I wonder? Rules are indeed rules, but in his efforts to muddy waters bkkguy has misread the Covenant of this Board. For his information, the relevant parts state - The Gay Thailand Management takes very seriously the privacy of its members and recognizes the desire and in many cases the need for discretion. Personal information that can be used to identify a member, a user, or a go go boy or bar boy, whether or not a Gay Thailand member, shall not be permitted. No member shall publish or cause to be published such personal information. Personal information is any information that identifies a person or his residence or place of employment and includes but is not necessarily limited to . . . Photos of subject So the rules refer specifically to the posting of “a photo which identifies a member etc.” The key word here is "identifies". There are actually three errors in bkkguy’s posts – 1. There is absolutely no identification of individuals in the photographs, bar the fact that they were in a totally public place. This is quite unlike the 200 or so photos in the thread about the Obsessions Club where the photos specifically identified both the Club where the ladyboys worked and, in many instances, their 'names'. 2. There is absolutely no indication in the posts or the photos to identify that anyone in any of those in the photos is “a member, a user, or a go go boy or bar boy.” 3. bkkguy uses the phrase “tacit approval”. This further muddies waters because the phrase specifically refers not to the above but to a separate clause later in the Covernant which reads – All GoGo and Host work-related information is exempt provided the guy, with intent, has made that information publicly available or has given tacit approval for such information to be made available. “Tacit approval” is therefore specifically related to “gogo and host work-related information” and not, please note, to general photographs. Since bkkguy is so certain of his case, perhaps he will now inform us therefore precisely how the rules have been broken. Also, if bkkguy’s haphazard ‘interpretation’ of the regulations is correct, then my series of posts on the Taipei Gay Pride Parade and goodness knows how many other posts over the years from many members with photos of unknown individuals are also a violation of the rules. The fact is - they are not! And perhaps in future bkkguy will think twice before posting such irrelevancies as this when the photographs in this thread were all taken at a fully open public place. don't ask me about the harm - ask the guys who tell their parents they are waiters at restaurants in Pattaya then are photographed at the gay beach on a site like this! Those in the photos are walking or leaning on a pole; no-one is sitting. Lots of people, gay and straight, walk past different sections of the beach. There is therefore absolutely nothing to suggest or "identify" that they are even gay - except bkkguy's over-fertile imagination! And my last points. 1. Not one post on this thread mentions "gay beach" - except, surprise! surprise! bkkguy's post! All previous posts refer only to Dongtan Beach. Is Dongtan Beach, or is it not, bkkguy, a general public beach? Does anything in the photos identify the precise area of the beach? No. You make an assumption. 2. There is a photo of a woman in one of the photographs. How does that square with parents discovering through this thread that their "waiter" sons are gay? It doesn't. Quote
Gaybutton Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 Some of the photos also include a male and female farang who were caught up in the photos. By bkkguy's logic, their permission is also necessary before the picture can be posted. And don't forget to obtain permission from the marine police officer in the boat in the background of one of the pictures. Next time, just swim out and ask him it it's ok. How about photos of the crowds at Songkran? Don't forget to find and obtain permission from each and every one of the people in the crowd. The rules are here for a reason. Common sense also comes into play. If bkkguy wants to place such a literal interpretation of the rules just to make some sort of ridiculous point, let him. "John Marshall has made his decision. Now let him enforce it!" - President Andrew Jackson (supposedly he never actually said that) Quote
