New site with googlemaps for Thai gay venues.

ON this newly revamped site: www.mangosociety.com wou will find a google map with listings attached for all known Thai gay venues. I think it is based on their (mainly Thai) forum. To my amazement (I have to try it out more) for just BKK-city they list well over 200 massageshops and over 50 sauna's-many in outer suburbia, so likely not that much of interest for most of you. I had estimated both to be about 40. However, I think that some massageshops are just that-though there may have been the odd ''more service''- but not very regular. What I checked, most of the pin-spots were also actually right-a thing that googlemaps for BKK is often unable to do.

The site is linked to MAX magazine-one of the free monthly giveaways, mainly ads and listings. It used to be tmmsociety.com-but this seems to have changed to some Facebook chat-and I do not do that, so no comment on what is in.

Looks quite an interesting site, and has one of its chat forums in English. As you say, it lists a great number of massage/sauna establishments. I wonder how many posters have visited Preuksa Bureau Massage or Sor Superman! When you click on the gogo bar listings, however, you are directed over to Dreaded Ned's site, which is usually more than a bit out of date.

But to get to the google map section it seems you have to register.

This seems quite easy, as they have English directions - until the last box when you have to complete this -

หนึ่ง+สอง = เท่าไร (ตอบเป็นตัวหนังสือภาษาไทย):

Anyone know what this means?

Well, I'll give it my best (meaning no guarantee but I do note that I think I'm pretty sure of the meaning):

1 + 2 = how much? (the answer to be in Thai characters/letters).

So....guess the answer would be สาม ("saam", rising tone, meaning "three")! If I'm wrong, Khun Khortose (which, technically, should be Khun Kaw-toht!) will eat your hat....

That's my kind of site - banning me before I even go there! Somewhat reminds me of the line I often steal/vary from Groucho Marx: That I'd never belong to "X" if it'd have me as a member!

when I log in to this site, then I simply get into-and the current map you see first is for massage places-all over Thaild. The pins are in blue or green-1 for real gay (click on-the details usually then say min tip=500 or so) and general palces-that may offer more-this even includes Healthland. I think they relate to their forums, mainly Thai (many are quite funny and informative about the masseurs).

The sauna-list they work on (they told me)-a listing in englsh is easiest to find by going to the forum-scroll down and find the list-click on and you find deatils-at least the maps (but mostly Thai only).

The other gay bisnis sectors-like gogo-are not that attractive for the mainstream Thai gay and thus I think are for them the last resort to work on.

The google map takes some time to load, but works pretty well with all the usual features google has. Thus I only wanted to point out things that may be intersting for more people-I cannot explain nor help with non-loading etc.

And dear khun FH; oh yes, in another forum, which I will not mention, but it starts with cr---, there are numerous reports about people trying to find and visit such faraway places as Superman or 8,5-taking busrides of 1hr+ and walks of indeterminable length. PLus: one respected member of this+other forums lives in just end-of-floods Sapan Mai-some 25 kms away from the Silom bubble-but with some 5+ massageshops whithin 4-5 kms of that place and 2 sauna's.

Perfect Guess! Thank you. Once you know that, it's easy getting into the site. And when you make a mistake, they have English prompts - e.g. your password must be a mix of numbers and upper AND lower case letters.

Yes, the map does take a long time to download, and once you zoom in on Bangkok the information on each individual establishment is often just in Thai. But it's nice to have.

Now I am curious because I know of no other site starting with cr---!

I do appreciate your concern, khun Pong, but I do like to be adventurous sometimes. And if I do end up getting lost, there is usually another establishment not too far away.

Indeed, now I am rarely in the Silom/Suriwong area for massage. Some months ago I posted my experiences at Look Me Spa way out past Kasetsart University and the adventure I had getting there! That thread has now been moved to Look Me Spa under the Bangkok section of Thailand Businesses / Establishments.

Disappearing Review

But I am concerned to note that my review seems to have vanished. Frankly, it does not matter to me whether it is included or not, but surely a listing under Bangkok Establishments is much more valuable to gay thailand readers if a member's actual review is included rather than just listing the website? Also, if reviews are to be deleted once they are moved from the main gay thailand Board, it surely removes the incentive for members to make the effort of submitting reviews in the first place, in my opinion!

I see a review from you here in the Gay Thailand section. Is there another one you are referring to?

Thanks Michael - and apologies to Scooby. I saw Look Me Spa under the Businesses / Establishments section and saw only 3 or 4 posts. I did check this forum from mid-late August for the original thread. Stupidly I did not check early September when the last post was made! Should have used the Search!

But this does perhaps raise a point about reviews in general. Since the Board now has an extending business etc. section, would it not be more appropriate for actual reviews and any other pertinent comments (e.g. how to get to a place) eventually to be transferred over to that section so that they always stay listed against the establishment they refer to? It could be done a few months after the original post is made.

I suggest it only because it might make it easier for new and occasional readers to locate if it always ends up next to the establishment to which it refers - and for those of us whose ageing eyes can't find older reviews, for one reason or another :o

No problem.

I agree with you that moving the posts is a good thing to do. I personally like to see them organized when I visit the establishments area. I was just making hotel recommendations to a friend today for December and I was trying to find Vincent's. The first place I looked was the Bangkok section. I wish it had more reviews there as I like to see it all together.

BTW: Does anyone know if the Le Meridan allows for overnight guests with no problem?
