Guest mikebinsf Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Does anyone have any hotel recommendations for a 3 day stay in Puket during January? We would like to keep it in the $50-100US range per night for 3 people. Quote
Guest pete1969 Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Mike, I have stayed at two places in my many trips to Phuket, and I highly reccomend both of them. One is Aquaris Sauna and Guesthouse. They have great minisuites in your price range. It is a suana, so you will run into a lot of towel wearing guys in the afternoon and evenings. The indoor pool, sauna, and gym are all decent, and the rooftop sundeck and jacuzzi are very nice. They are fickle about pricing with credit cards, so you might want to make sure you get a rate for credit cards upfront. This place is right in the middle of the gay action. I have also stayed at a very nice apartment run by an American. The two bedroom apartment is really nice (but only one bathroom). It is three flights up. This place is right off the gay area. However, it is just an apartment and does not have hotel amenities such as a pool or recepetion if those things are important to you. The website for this place is adamansuitesparadiso.com. Pataong Beach Bungalows are right in front of the gay beach, but I have never stayed there. I hope this helps. Be sure to book soon for January. Pete Quote
Gaybutton Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Pataong Beach Bungalows are right in front of the gay beach, but I have never stayed there. I have stayed in the Patong Beach Bungalows, pre-tsunami, and loved it. The rooms are very nice and right on the beach. They have an excellent swimming pool too and it is only a few minutes walk to the Paradise Complex, where most of the gay bars are. They are gay-friendly there. The rooms each have a sign on the inside of the door and the sign talks about joiner fees, but I was never asked to pay a joiner fee when I had a 'guest.' Another inexpensive accommodation is the Connect Guesthouse, which is a gay guesthouse. I've stayed there too and was quite satisfied with it. They have everything you need and you can't beat the price. It's located right in the heart of the Paradise Complex. Their web site is: http://www.beachpatong.com/connect Quote

Connect Guesthouse is fine if you like lots of noise and mayhem into the early hours. Also the place seems to attract the more camp visitor and might not suit all. The food is basic and the selection is not great. The Siam Palm is a small gay hotel with an excellent restaurant. It is about 5 - 10 minutes walk to the Paradise complex and 4 minutes to the beach. They had some construction going on directly opposite but most of the major work (and noise, which was only during the day and early evening anyway) is now finished. Rates are very reasonable. Their hotel/airport transfer service is cheaper than most and way below the rates the local taxis charge - but make sure you let them know that there are 3 people to pick up. Quote

Guest Snowkat Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 The Siam Palm has a web site: http://www.siam-palm.com/index2.html Note: The picture on the first page of the web site is now misleading in that the park which the hotel once overlooked at the front has been built on - nevertheless it has not affected the hotel to any great extent - see my comment about construction in post above.!
