floridarob Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 I have been looking for good Pizza in BKK and thought maybe I found it last night and called Ronny's Pizza for delivery but the sauce was horrible (pizza was big like NYC 439baht) Anyone have recommendations? Quote
Guest joseph44 Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 Scoozi maybe? http://www.lonelyplanet.com/thailand/bangkok/restaurants/italian/scoozi or Big Pizza? http://big.pizzadeliverybangkok.com/ Quote
Rogie Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 I have been looking for good Pizza in BKK . . . How long are you in Bkk for Florida Rob? If you're here for a reasonable length of time why not do a Michael-style survey? His trips round the burger joints and what he's found there is an excellent thread and I am sure a similar one based on pizza would be too. Quote
Guest thaiworthy Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 I find it ironic there is a thread on pizza and another on weight gain from unhealthy food. Does pizza qualify? I can look at a picture of a pizza and gain weight. What is it about pizza that makes it taste good? What is it about pizza that some Thais (especially the bf) don't like? He doesn't like cheese, either. And I haven't noticed any Thai food that has cheese in it. But then, I haven't tried it all. How do you define good pizza? FloridaRob said one place had horrible sauce. I've had some small samples of pizza in Thailand, and they all had terrible sauce! I've tasted catsup that had better flavor. So that leaves the crust. Some Thais don't like bread, either. So now. we've a triple-whammy combo working against a Thai palette. Yet Pizza Hut seems to thrive in Thailand. Is that good pizza? If the pizza is served in a restaurant with a catchy Italian name, would that help? How about an Italian flag wrapped around a toothpick? Oh, I forgot the toppings! We have a winner! I'll just bet seafood toppings really sell well. Octopus, squid . . . yummy! Quote
kokopelli Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 How do you define good pizza? I'll just bet seafood toppings really sell well. Octopus, squid . . . yummy! You are right; the Thais do like seafood toppings! As how do you define good pizza, then try one at Kokos. Quote
Rogie Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 So now. we've a triple-whammy combo working against a Thai palette. It seems the Thais don't rave over pizza in the way they do with some other 'western' imports, such as burgers, ice cream, KFC. One of the endearing aspects of Michael's survey of hamburger places is that the evaluating tasters are an enthusiastic mix of farang and Thai. You are right; the Thais do like seafood toppings! As how do you define good pizza, then try one at Kokos. That's a good logo you have there Koko, but can we see what one of your pizzas (the octopus one perhaps) actually looks like? Quote
kokopelli Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 No squid or pineapple in Kokopelli territory! Here is Koko's famous white pizza with bacon, spinach, roasted red peppers, mozzarella/cheddar cheese with olive oil and garlic; road runner wings extra. Quote
kokopelli Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 There is only one Kokopelli Pizza but for non-purists there are some seafood and pineapple toppings (ugh) on the menu. Quote
Guest thaiworthy Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 No squid or pineapple in Kokopelli territory!Road runner wings extra. Roadkill on my pizza would've made it for me. I'd certainly pay extra for that. Quote
Rogie Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 That pizza looks great Koko. I don't usually opt for pineapple myself - I didn't realise it was frowned upon by some. My favourite pizza would be tomato, cheese, anchovy, olives, peperoni, garlic and maybe mushroom (if it's proper chunky mushroom and not just slivers) on a thin base crust rather than the thick one. I'd add plenty of fresh-ground black pepper at the table and some decent olive oil. A glass of red wine wouldn't go amiss either. I'd certainly pay extra for that. Surely that can't be the same roadrunner (beep! beep!) that always evaded mishap. Quote
TotallyOz Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 I just had Scoozi Pizza last night and it was simply OK at best. It was not bad but not great either. I have been there a few times but this time it wasn't as good as before. Quote
Guest kjun12 Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Scuse my ignorance but is there really a Kokopelli's Pizza place? Quote
Guest thaiworthy Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Scuse my ignorance but is there really a Kokopelli's Pizza place? Yes, and it's delicious. It's every bit as good as Kokopelli Wine. I also invested heavily with Kokopelli Financial and made over a zillion baht overnight! Quote
kokopelli Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Scuse my ignorance but is there really a Kokopelli's Pizza place? You can get a Kokopelli Pizza at Arizona Pizza in Massachusetts/USA. http://store6.geomerx.com/arizonapizza5/index.cfm?fuseaction=product&productID=36 Quote
