Guest fountainhall Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 I have looked at the site. May I make a couple of suggestions. First, when you post a website, include http://. That way it is easy just to click the link and get into your home page. When I opened the site, I found it quite confusing. I fully accept it is geared more towards Thais and it's good that you have English translations for almost everything. Once you move through several pages, there is a lot of information on directions for drivers which seem quite clear (but I don't drive) and excellent descriptions of the various bus routes (but I rarely take a bus!). There is also a detailed map - but all the streets are all marked only in Thai. So my second suggestion is you should insert a box with the names of the nearest MRT or BTS stations and provide in large Thai lettering a note for taxi drivers which farang can print out and give to drivers. This will really help farang. Frankly, when I checked my thick bilingual street map book of the city (the Street Direction Grid System), I could not find Ngam Wong Wan! I guessed it is too far north. You mention Kasetsart University. I finally found Ngam Wong Wan by checking the university on google maps. From that, it's easy to see the turn off comes after the Ratchadapisek intersection en route to Don Mueang. So drivers should continue north towards Don Mueang and turn left at Vibhavadi Hospital. Clearly there is no nearby MRT or BTS Station. I reckon the closest are Chatuchak Park MRT or Mo Chit BTS. From there I guess it will be about Bt. 100 in a taxi. Hope this helps. I suppose being near a major University, you probably have a lot of students coming for massage and relaxation. Quote
Gaybutton Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 I finally found Ngam Wong Wan by checking the university on google maps. He does have the geographic coordinates on the web site. 13° 51' 16" N, 100° 32' 53" E. I copied and pasted those coordinates on Google Earth and it worked perfectly. If you have a GPS, it will be easy to get there. Even if you go by taxi, with a GPS that has a Bangkok map in hand you can tell the driver where to turn from wherever you are. Quote
Guest fountainhall Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 Guess my problem is that I don't have a GPS. I stick to the old fashioned maps! But I still think for tourists, having the nearest MRT/BTS listed along with taxi directions in Thai will be a help. Not many will normally venture that far from the Chatuchak area. Quote
Guest lookmespa Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 Dear fountainhall, thank you for your precious comment. I will try to develop the information on my website soon. I will try to make it easy for foreigner. My place is not far from Kasetsart University. It is about 6 bus stops. It might difficult for those who do not live in this area, I do understand. By the way, if anyone wants to go to my place, kindly call me. I can help explain how to get to my place. The nearest MRT/BTS is Morchit station. If you catch a taxi from there it will be the easiest way. Thank you for visiting http://www.lookmespa.com Warm regards, Lookme Quote

pong Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 for those who know the area a little and the already existing massage places: it is most close to former Harem, which has since chanegd names-check ThaiMassageboys (I think Apple-but there were so many changes lately). That listed bus: Toh (sorry-no Thai here in Europe)13 is NOT a big bus, bus a rot tour=minivan. Better avoid if you do not know how that all works and where you go. Best connection is bus 522 from the VICTORY Monument-very frequent and fast bus-turning directly on expressway and turning off at The Mall (former Banglamphu-now Panthip2) deptmt store. The place is not really opposite kasert (harem is-but way out hidden at the end of some 2-turned sois), Oh well-there used to be (or is) another spa from TMB roughly in that area-maybe also simple changed owner and names? The quoted promosyen prices are for service before 17.00-and then a real bargain- oil/aroma at just 300 bt/2hrs!. Quote

Many Asian websites make do with lousy maps, but the GPS co-ordinates allow any user to check exactly where the place is on a good quality google map. I've spent well over an hour trying to figure out some poor quality maps for some Spas in Vietnam. They must lose some customers due to this. Incidentally, with Firefox all you need to do is select the co-ordinates, right click and pick the "search Google" option. Quote

I very new to this area. There is another spa next to me and TMB, but different Soi, named Judo. I think Judo neither change his name nor his owner, I'm sorry if I am wrong. By the way, bus #522 will go onto the express way. The bus will pass the Mall Ngarm-wong-wan (on your right handside - Panthip 2 is on your left handside). After the Mall, it will go to the intersection, then go stright to Kasetsart university. Customer can get off at the second bus stop after the transection. Walk across the walk over bridge, go stright pass the TMB bank, then turn left about 20 meters. My spa is opposite right behind the bank. Warms regards, Lookme Quote

Moses Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Hi lookmespa I like how you reply to posts here Small advise: Here http://www.lookmespa.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=10:-spa-area&catid=8:spa-area&Itemid=10 you have pictures of your spa. They aren't small, but are just "tightened" by code. Look at code: <img src="http://lookmespa.com/images/stories/pix-spa/picture%20011.jpg" mce_src="/images/stories/pix-spa/picture 011.jpg" alt="" height="144" width="191"/> Your huge picture http://lookmespa.com/images/stories/pix-spa/picture%20011.jpg is just tightened to 191 x 144 px size, but our browsers still need first download 1.2 Mb of real picture which is 2592 x 1944 pixels from your server and only then make it smaller and show us 191x144 pic on your page. It makes your page very slow. Please feel free to use next pictures which I resize for you and made them a little bit more "nice". And they are 600x450 and 191x143 sizes and are 10-80 times smaller by weight Quote
Guest lookmespa Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Hi Moses, I would like to say a big thank you to your time and guidance given to me. I just uploaded all pictures that you have resized, hope that will help the page load faster. Thank you so much Lookme Quote

Guest fountainhall Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Lookme Spa Report With some free time yesterday and with Lookme having been very co-operative in changing his site to incorporate our various comments, I decided to venture north in the late afternoon in the hope I'd find the Spa. Aware that we've had heavy rain most afternoons around 5:30 pm, I got on to the MRT at Lumphini at 4:15. After the 25-minute trip to Chatuchak (only a few meters from the BTS Mo Chit station), I took Exit 2, as I knew this would get me on to the correct side of the road for a taxi going north. There were literally dozens of taxis. No problem there. The big problem is the traffic! About 600 meters north is a horrible intersection that is often clogged. And as I came out of the MRT, I could see that the 6-lane traffic jam covered all of the 600 meters ahead - and probably 400 meters behind. But again, no problem. Knowing that the way up to Ngam Wong Wai would mean always turning left (much easier), I walked those 600 meters and then picked up a cab almost at the traffic lights. I showed the taxi driver Lookme’s Thai instructions, and so he knew how to get pretty close. I also had the directions in English and the map and was confident we’d not have problems getting there. The taxi ride took around 20 minutes – Bt. 71 on the meter (it would have been faster and cheaper if the traffic had been easier!). Slowing up as we saw the flyover, we found the Thai Military Bank and turned left immediately after. I got out of the taxi a little way down the soi, but then my problems started. I quickly add that I caused the problems – not Lookme Spa! I pride myself in finding my way from maps and directions. But I had stopped the cab about 50 meters down the soi, when Lookme is very clear in saying he is 30 meters down (and that is the exact distance!). I then got my knickers further in a twist by looking for the green 2-storey house on the left, whereas Lookme is equally clear in saying it is on the right!! After wandering lonely as Wordsworth’s cloud for about ten minutes, I finally realised my stupid mistake. When I backtracked, voilà - there was the house. If you just stop at TMB and walk down the soi, you absolutely cannot miss it! This is a very small Spa. They can only take 4 clients at one time, and consequently have only 4 masseurs. Unfortunately, I had arrived unannounced, not realising that they might already have bookings. And indeed, they were more or less fully booked that evening (a good sign, surely, as most seemed to be returning clients). Khun Lookme could not have been nicer, though, and was able to squeeze me in for a 60-minute massage with Khun Ong. There are lockers on the ground floor, but I chose just to take my little bag upstairs. Lookme has a wide range of massage oils, but no creams. I selected the orange at Bt. 350 for one hour. Most are the same price, I believe, apart from one Thai oil which is almost double. The shower area is nicely laid out with curtain partitions, plenty of hot water and soap, liquid soap and shampoo. The Spa only has 2 massage rooms, each split into two sections with floor-to-ceiling curtains. Khun Ong’s massage was moderately firm, although he said he would increase or lessen pressure as I wished. Mostly he adopted pressure and sliding motions (oh! I wish shamelessmack’s site was still active so I could refer to his excellent massage description tables). He speaks pretty good English and so we were chatting throughout. With curtained partitions – and after much of the hour was used up in the massage – endings are somewhat restricted. But let me just say that I had a pleasant time! I had asked earlier about tips, and could not elicit more than the usual “up to you.” So I tipped as I thought appropriate. Herbal tea and fruit was then served downstairs, along with a special surprise as during my massage Khun Lookme had noticed from this Board that it was my birthday! A little cake with one candle (how diplomatic) appeared – a wonderful little touch! Thank you again, Khun Lookme. It may also have been to mark the visit of their first farang, because Khun Ong told me he could not recall another farang visiting since he started working there 2 months ago. Returning to the city at 7:30 was a breeze. Getting to Chatuchak by taxi took just 10 minutes. So, how to sum it all up? I was struck by the friendliness of everyone I met. The Spa is clean and welcoming. The massage was good, but I felt too much oil was used (making it a fraction too 'squishy'), and I should perhaps have asked for a little more firmness – my fault! The masseur was charming, and Khun Lookme really does look after his clients. I have no idea about the other spas in that area, and so have no way to compare. Nor can I compare with similar spas close to the centre, because I have only ever gone to the much bigger massage parlours like Aqua and Albury where the ‘afters’ are as important as the massage and consequently the total cost is a great deal more. But I enjoyed my time and will return. Two small recommendations for the Spa, though. 1. Massage oil takes time to shower off. Since the masseurs do not shower with you, there is inevitably a part of the middle back where you cannot get rid of the oil! A long-handled bath brush would be a useful addition. 2. It's really not easy to see TMB from a taxi. Better is to note the Shell station on the left and the Caltex station almost opposite on the right. If you then start to slow down, you will see TMB after about 150 meters on your left, just as the road partition marking the flyover starts And a recommendation for potential visitors. Call in advance to book. But this could be problematic because of the traffic, unless you visit at weekends, or mid-afternoon/late evening on weekdays when traffic is easier. Quote
