TotallyOz
I have high speed accerss from ToT. It is not realy hgh speed but it is OK for Thailand. It had not been working properly for a week. I have called them 20 times and no help. Finally, yesterday I went to TutCom and bought a new router for the ADSL. It took less than 2 min to install and then, wham, bam, I had high speed. It was not the low speed I had been getting for weeks but the high speed I was paying for. I am not sure how much had to do with the box they gave me as it was set up to their site, but now, the net is much faster and more enjoyable. Gaybutton
I had the same thing happen to me. When I switched over to TOT's high speed I continued to use the ADSL modem I already had. It never really achieved high speed. I even had technicians from TOT over here to check it out. When they tried it with a modem they brought with them, they got high speed. They told me that a router is what I need. So, off to Tuk Com. They are not particularly expensive, but it pays to shop around. I found what I was looking for at one shop, but still shopped around a bit more. At another shop I saw exactly the same router, but it was selling for 800 baht less. Anyway, ever since replacing the old modem with the new router, I get the speed.
Guest wowpow
I am with TT&T in Jomtien. When I got ADSL I checked with them and with the ISP (Ji net ) and Telewiz that they were compatible with Apple computers and was assured no problem. I got a package with a free modem. Then after much agony and time on the telephones I found that I had to buy a router ( I still have no idea what it does ) for 2600 baht and their engineers admitted that they knew nothing about Apple and gave me a contact number with a local computer guy. He set me up and it works quite well. I get speeds of 180 - 200 kpm/s? most of the time. I had trouble after a few months and called the expert in again. The Router was broken but he got a new one from Ji net for free. I am currently paying about 830 baht a month + a free month. This seems OK? They also let me suspend the account when I go abroad for a few months.
PattayaMale
I also have ADSL with TOT at my house. It stopped working. I called TOT a few times. Finally 2 guys showed up to fix my problem. I explained that everything worked fine for many months and then just stopped but I had a phone signal. They looked around the hous eand then told me I had too many outlets and they cut the wires at four locations. They said another person whould show up "soon" to fix the modem/router. I was shocked they they cut the lines without saying anything first! Especially since I paid a TOT to add the lines in my house many months ago!! Well i have my DSL service back now but no phone at the pool, pourch, bathroom or guest bedroom!! I think I will get a wireless router so I don't have to worry about a connection at those locations. Any suggestion for brand?
