I think if code looks like Wordpress: If structure of files looks like Wordpress: Then it is Wordpress - free platform for bloggers. code is not looks like Wordpress but it's wordpress3.2.1 this project build from wordpress 3.2.1 with customize design. and "Proudly powered by WordPress" is not request for users at all. And wordpress is not blog system.. Wordpress is best CMS. and free if you can work and design your self. Quote

Guest fountainhall Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 As posters here know well, I am not a technical person and I haven't the faintest idea how to go about constructing a website. My own business has one, but that was left to a couple of friends in London. Clearly there is a difference of opinion about this issue. And we have three main contributors whose native languages are, I think, all different. We know Michael hails from the USA. We know, because he has told us, English is not Moses' mother tongue. And I assume that asiansexynine is probably Thai. Frankly, I admire anyone who does not have English as a first language posting on this site - especially if they are defending their work against others who may disagree with them. I suspect - and do please correct me if I am wrong - that Michael's wit and attempts to help have been misinterpreted due mostly to a less than perfect command of the English language. In my view (goodness, how many times have I typed that phrase this evening!), everyone has tried to be helpful, but there have been some misunderstandings due partly to the subtlety of language. Thanks z909 - I could not agree more. This week we have two new Thai members ((when could we last say that, I wonder?) who I sincerely hope will continue posting for a long time. I really believe I am not being patronising when i say that we ought to give them some leeway when it comes to expressing thoughts and opinions. After all, they have taken the trouble to learn English. How many of us have taken the trouble to learn Thai to the point where we could contribute to a web forum? I suspect not more than a handful - if that!. We have also quite regularly on this Board discussed the difficulty of understanding Thai logic. Thais, I am sure, have similar difficulty understanding western logic. Without becoming too paranoid about the whole thing, pausing a little to reconsider posts and then drafting replies a little more carefully to ensure we are actually expressing ourselves clearly before putting fingers on keys, will I believe help no end. That's partly courtesy and partly just plain common sense. After living in Asia for more than 32 years, I can assure you it should work. Quote

I have known Oh for a long time - long before he entered the web design business. He was a waiter in a Sunee area restaurant and he has always been very friendly guy - I think we do indeed have a cultural and language difference here. I have been coming to Thailand for more than 20 years and I am no longer surprised that I still manage to offend long term Thai friends with what I think are the most innocuous actions/statements. I now just attribute it to a different culture that I strive to understand and consistently fall short - but Oh is a sweet guy - of that I am positive. Quote

I do not know Oh and had no idea of his background until I read buckeroo2's post. But I have had a short correspondence with him by PM in the last couple of days. That clearly has to remain private, but I wonder what any farang would think if, with a limited command of Thai, someone was to write about him on a Thai board - Probably one of those many, many guys who think: "Ohh, I can do that" I just wonder: why you call this work "design"? You look like a nice guy trying to do a good job but some of your comments just do not add up. I have no doubt these comments were made with the best of intentions. But with a bit more thought, the same sense could have been conveyed in a manner that would have seemed less demeaning. Besides, every web designer works to a client’s instructions, and criticizing a design is an issue for the client, surely, not the designer/programmer. But I accept it's never easy striking a correct balance! Quote

I appreciate your response. It was very well thought out. The problem with the above statement is that most who view a website have opinions of them and are not versed in any of the above. That does not mean one should discount their opinion. When I get criticism from one of my businesses, I say thank you and it is something I will consider. There really is never any need for anyone to get into much more than that on a forum and if they do, they have to be prepared for a wide variety of opinions from "experts" and others. I wish you well in your business and your career. I hope it goes as you desire. Thank you for taking the time to clarify as many questions as you could. Quote

First monthly turnover over $100K for 1(one) website I got in 2004. My best conversion (visitors to customer) result for traffic from searchengines is 14% and average conversion is 9.6% (comp. average for world 2.2% and average for search 3.2%, top-10 world av.conv. is about 12%) For now I'm owner of 100+ websites and 10+ e-shops. Ok. It was about dick's length ))) Now about Eros website. When I post my first note about it - I had no idea who made it and how. I wrote only coz want "Peter's" site to be nice That's all. I wrote my impressions. Why do you think it is "negative"? It isn't. It is just list "to do, if customer wants to improve visibility in search-results, if customer wants better usability of his site, etc." Quote
