While I love a nice afternoon at Hero (even though I can't find the guy Kjun recommended me to see), Bangkok is truly a world class city with so many things going on every month. Here are just a few:

One more event. There's a concert of Music of the 1970s titled "You Can't Stop the Music" at the Thailand Cultural Centre on August 26 (Friday). It features the Bangkok Symphony with singers and conductor from London. According to the flyer, music featured includes The Bee Gees, Village People, Boney M, Donna Summer, Earth, Wind and Fire, and more.
