From Pattaya News

At 1:30 AM on December 8th, 2024, Thonglor police raided a drug-fueled party involving over 120 individuals, both Thais and foreigners, at a luxury hotel in Bangkok’s Watthana district.

Pol. Col. Pansa Amornapitak, Thonglor police chief, revealed that a tip-off on December 6th reported a planned party with drug activities. Authorities conducted surveillance and launched the raid after noticing a large gathering in a hotel room on Sukhumvit Soi 31.

According to Pol. Col. Pansa, the attendees, mostly Thai and foreign male tourists, were reportedly part of an LGBTQ+ group. Initial searches reportedly uncovered ecstasy and ketamine at the scene. All participants were detained, including two to three women.

Investigations revealed the event required pre-registration through a secret online group, with identity verification by group administrators. Undercover agents attempted to join but were denied access, leading to the raid.

To be honest, these organisers are a bit stupid. Why would you have so many people night after night in same room. Raises too many questions and obviously attention. Of course hotel will tell the police. They would be concerned about safety. It could even be an insurance risk for them. I hope people can find out what happened to those arrested. I suspect the foreigners will be taken to an ATM and let go easy. Thailand doesn’t need to scare off tourists. I could be wrong, anyone else please tell us how this could play out?

Now the question is, do clubs carry similar raid risk? For the veteran forum members here, are drugs common say in Moonlight, dreamboy, etc.  I would think that as business operator, you'd likely prohibit such use anyway..

Other than odd boy smoking weed outside I never saw boy appearing under drug influence in any bar nor massage spa.

+1

This activity is taking place on the home turf of Bangkok’s hi-so community. These are the same folks who look down on the tourists—and their own—who visit Patpong, Nana and Cowboy where the ‘lowlifes’ gather. But behind the doors that open only to the ruling classes and those of their ilk, drugs are the currency of choice.

Tip and touch was an  event in the highest tradition of slut pursuits. 🙂

And I would bet that the Crete the Party organizers did not exclude any police that wanted to participate.

In the above article, the exclusion of the BiB was a fatal mistake in my opinion = quote from above article:

"Investigations revealed the event required pre-registration through a secret online group, with identity verification by group administrators. Undercover agents attempted to join but were denied access, leading to the raid."

Since this raid, three separate people I know visiting Bangkok (all gay foreign tourists) this week have reported that they have been randomly pulled aside by police for intrusive searches. 1 on the BTS over-walk, another after leaving restaurant with their family in BangRak, and another couple getting out of a taxi in Silom. All said they felt targeted and was because they are gay, with questions about where they are staying and what venues they have been at and parties going to, what drugs do they have… None obviously. In the taxi instance, the driver was likely undercover police - who asked if they wanted to buy I*E (frozen water). The gay couple who told me this, said no thanks we don’t do drugs. Driver proceeded to a particular spot to let them out and that’s where the police then jumped on them. As you can imagine, all this seems very full on and even for people who don’t participate in illegal activities would naturally feel anxious. Justice isn’t as clear unfortunately as in other countries. So my question to forum readers, is this normal?

I doubt. Either bad luck of those people or there's something  more which they did not tell you. In 36 trips I never was approached , not witnessed approach by police nor got offer to buy anything illegal other than porn DVD. I guess looking like nobody keeps me out of trouble
