First timer hotel question

Recommended Posts

Posted

Hey, been reading the forum for a while now, so much that I feel like I've already been to Thailand.

However - I haven't. I am planning my first trip (thinking late march-April).

I'm really struggling with picking hotels, even after reading and researching - the reason being I'm kinda picky with hotels (I travel ALOT for work) I need hotels that are at least Marriot / Hilton level, but also ones that won't be a problem to bring boys back to. Also, obviously the closest to the action. I don't mind paying $150-$250 a night...

So... any recommendations for Bangkok / Pattaya that fit the description?

Thanks!

Hilton is far from a lot of the action in Pattaya. Jomtien Complex is the hub now, and that's maybe 4km away. Might not seem like a lot, but in Pattaya traffic that can take a long time!
Jomtien doesn't have any chain hotels, but as many people here will agree, The Agate Hotel is fantastic, and it puts you literally a few meters from the action.

It depends what you're looking for really. The Hilton will give you easy access to Boyz Town, but not a lot going on there anymore.

I'd not call show at XBoys " not a lot going..."etc. although I agree that BBB visit is bordering on wasting time

other than mentioned above I would add Amara, Crowne Plaza and Pullman G  in Silom area, definitely more upscale and no problem with visitors, personally tested even if I don't really see need of staying in this level of accommodation

Oh sure. Inside bars is a different story. If one chooses to drag their ass through "NEW-BUMBAI" and then "DIRTY-KABUL" they can get to Nice Boys *can't recall the new name*. Fantastic fun to be had.

My point was if you want to be in a lively area, with a lot of people, partying and activity, Boyztown and Sunee Plaza just don't cut it right now. Maybe things will flip back around in the future.

I say stay in Jomtien if you're a top and Near Botztown if you're a bottom, lol

Amara Hotel - The Best of

When I was coming for shorter stays prior to retiring, this was my go to hotel. It does a lot of the important things right and your dates treated with discretion and courtesy. Good buffet breakfast, compact but very comfortable rooms (your LT may be in no hurry to leave) and terrific rooftop infinity pool.

too bad Tiger from Tawan  and Art from Nakkarat did not read what you said above when I took them (on separate nights of the same trip ) there, LOL

Nothing against Amara but in my books is memorized as ' bad luck for LT hotel "

arguably owner of best body Tawan offered  at the time or may be even ever. Great personality as well. Wears crown as best boy of my Dec 2015 rip, my best Thai trip ever

I appreciate Hotel Amara for its hospitality, pool, delicious breakfasts, and ability to handle crisis situations. The receptionists are wonderful; they even provided me with an extra room when the number of my masseuses got out of hand... and in the end, the receptionist turned out to be a travel companion as well...

Bangkok is full of very nice hotels that belong to the western chains and independents or Asian chains that are on par with those kinds of hotels. They've got to all compete with each other. So don't be afraid to branch out beyond Marriott and Hilton unless collecting points and nights are important to you. As for closest to the action, I think everybody has covered the options pretty well. But if you decide to branch out farther (like Sukhumvit or even the cluster of options at Ratchadamri there are many very nice hotels at reasonable prices

I haven't been to Pattaya in a while, but there the standard wasn't quite as high last time I was.

Capella has been voted Bangkok's number one hotel🏨

Very expensive mind you ,well ,for me anyway 😭

But I recall being invited to a dinner there one evening and very beautiful ❤️ 😻

I see the Oriental  now starts at £650! And it does have the sexy young boys in Thai  costume, assisting  with the lifts any more!

I'd highly recommend Grande Centre Point Surawong Bangkok, quite close to Silom 6. Fifteen minute walk. 4 minute tuk tuk ride.

I'm going to try Le Meridien next time, just to try something new.
