kokopelli Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 I was going to save this for next April Fool, but this not a joke, or is it? The US Center for Disease Control has posted guidelines for emergency preparedness in event of a zombie infestation. Zombies can spread their condition via a virus which can be contacted through bites and contact with bodily fluids. Citizens are advised to have an emergency kit to include water, first aid supplies (bites are most often fatal) and most importantly, a baseball bat! Many don't believe in zombies but I have seen them for myself staggering around Sunee Plaza; haven't we all? http://emergency.cdc.gov/socialmedia/zombies_blog.asp Quote
KhorTose Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 Dr Khan oft the CDC had a brilliant idea. What a clever way to get people to be prepared, and to come to the site. Here is his bio: http://blogs.cdc.gov...ors/ali-s-khan/ and an article in the NYT http://www.nytimes.com/2011/05/20/health/20cdc.html?_r=1&ref=todayspaper As to Zombies in Sunee, I know for a fact that one inhabits the bathroom at the corner bar and can often be found in the morning with his feet sticking out of the door. Guest voldemar Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 It looks like that CDC is serious(?). Does not it manifest new stage of idiocy of US bureaucracy? It reminds me that relatively recently US Army research office offered quite generous (nonclassified) grants for studying teleportation (remember famous"energize" in Star Track series). While I always thought that it is great to "transform fairy tale into reality", I could not get rid of impression that the topic is a little bit ahead of time... On the other hand, I probably missed a great funding opportunity. It is no longer offered to the best of my knowledge. On the second thought, who knows perhaps the problem is already solved ... Quote
