Guest manforlads Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Hi All, I a am gay guy in UK, trying to get over a broken relationship and have booked a holidy to Pattaya in November 2011. Would appreciate any tips or advice you experienced guys can give me. I want some fun but also wouldnt mind finding a bf. Things like if thai lads really want a bf or not, best places to go, pitfalls and tricks to avoid, that kinda stuff. Thanks in advance Quote
TotallyOz Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Many Thai boys are looking for boyfriends. But, be careful to be clear in your expectations up front. A few questions: How long are you going to be in Pattaya? What type of boy do you like? Have you been to Thailand before? Quote
Guest Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 If you are going for a holiday, why not just visit all the gogo bars and off a different guy every day? Keep it nice & simple, with no complications. Also, what's the length of this holiday? If you are there for more than 10 days, it could make sense to see some other places in Thailand or adjacent countries. Quote
Guest thrillbill8 Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 What is your age??? -- If you are into dance clubs and "normal gay bars"my suggestion is to go to Bangkok. If you are over 50, then you may like the Pattaya gay scene which doesn't have the gay bars like soi 4, Silom or the dance clubs like DJ Station or GOD..plus shows such one would fine at "soi Twilight' in BKK. Pattaya is basically full of go-go boy clubs and 90% of the guys are the skinny, fem type. The only "gay bar" is Panorama in Boystown and the Thais you meet there are usually money boys. (doesn't compare to Telephone Bar or Balcony Bar in BKK) One plus over BKK would be Dontong Gay beach which is fun to relax at and people watch. In Pattaya, you'll have no problem picking up a young man (they call them "boys") that will be willing to "fall in love" with you. Basically Thai "boys" in the gay bars are from rural poor areas; thus, they are looking for someone to "take care of them". Be ready to buy your new love a cell phone, ..maybe even something more high tech. If you want an early start, you can go on Gay Romeo (Pattaya Chonburri) and you'll meet a variety of Thais who may be your eyecandy. 90% of them are "money boys". Since you are getting over a broken heart, just come here and enjoy being popular and don't seek an intimate relationship, just enjoy the variety of guys. Quote
kokopelli Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Likely an older "boy" would be more inclined to become a boyfriend. Their careers in the clubs are ending and they are wiser as well as older. Quote
Guest luvthai Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 I agree the best thing to do is just play the scene and not look for a bf. If it happens then all well and good. Visit the bars off the boy you like have a good night and move on. Remember to lock all valuables keeping out only enough to pay the boy the agreed amount. Quote
Guest JamesBarnes Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 Dear manforlads, I am sure you will have a great trip to Thailand and suggest you go to http://www.out-in-thailand.com for a great guide and articles that may give you some insight into Thai culture. Best wishes, James. Quote
Guest manforlads Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 Hi guys, thanks for your responses. I am going for 2 weeks,NEVER been before, staying in pattaya in a beach front hotel. Things i need to know are whats a gogo boy? whats a money boy? How do i know difference between one or another? How do i know if i am picking up a lad for the night and if so how much does it cost? or just a guy who wants to sit with me for drinks and company lol?? I am into skinny to average guys, sorry to be a pain, its just all new to me Quote
TotallyOz Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 How do i know if i am picking up a lad for the night and if so how much does it cost? or just a guy who wants to sit with me for drinks and company lol?? For the night, I'd think 1500-2000 would be reasonable. If you are over 30 and they are sitting with you, they are working and want money. And, how do you know? You ask them. You want to say all night with me? You want only short time? My best advise is to be upfront with them. Tell them what you want, top, bottom, oral (smoke), etc. Tell them what you will pay and ask them if they want to go off with you. whats a gogo boy? whats a money boy? They are the same. One works in a bar while if the boy has a dick in Pattaya, he is most likely a money boy. Unless he is with another falang in which case he is with them for love and not money so don't try to pick them up even if they wink at you. Quote
Guest voldemar Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 while if the boy has a dick in Pattaya, he is most likely a money boy. Come on, Michael, you are getting very cynical: he does not need a dick Quote
Guest anonone Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Hi guys, thanks for your responses. I am into skinny to average guys, sorry to be a pain, its just all new to me Welcome to the forum. I am sure you will have a great time in Pattaya. Just be warned, it can become VERY addicting. Biggest Tip: I would really encourage you to read up a bit before you arrive. There are some great resources on the internet that can help you figure out how things work. An example Newcomer's guide Some random thoughts / tips. Be very careful to avoid to underage guys. Regardless of what you hear, the guy has to be at least 18. All Thais carry a national ID card which lists their birthday. Thais use a different calendar, so you need to do some math to ensure their age. You can internet search for the details. Huge trouble if you ignore this one. Hopefully, you are staying in a hotel / guesthouse that will look out for you in this area. A typical guesthouse catering to the gay tourist will check and hold the ID of any Thai guy you bring back to your room. They check the ID to ensure the age of the guy (and it is not a fake or altered) and hold the ID until the guy leaves, just in case any problem should happen. I would never stay at a place that does not do this. The room should also have a small safe where you can lock up your wallet, passport, etc. when you have a visitor in your room. Again, I would not stay if they don't have this. Just better not to tempt anyone by having valuables in the open. Recommendations for where to go are quite subjective. For your first go-go "experience", I would suggest: Boyztown area: Happy Place Bar Funny Boys Bar Sunee Plaza area: Krazy Dragon These are typically very friendly, engaging places with a nice selection of guys. The "mamasans/managers" are not pushy and you will not feel pressured. Mark from Krazy Dragon occasionally posts on here, and Neal from Happy Place Bar is quite active on another forum. Hope you have found this helpful. Final advice is to start slowly, treat all the guys with great respect, and try not to lose your heart within the first week. If you have more questions, feel free to post em. There are some very helpful and knowledgeable guys on here. Quote
Guest manforlads Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Hey guys, thanks again, but whats a falang lol? one more immediate question comes to mind, and that is sexual health, do the boys in thailand get regular check ups (i suppose if the boys have lots of meets thats fairly irrelevant?), is STD testing available? Obviously condoms are a must, but just wondered about the other stuff Thanks to anonone i was going to ask about boys with fake id and how to tell!! Quote
kokopelli Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Am I the only one who is getting suspicious of the OP's questions? What's a money boy, what's a go go boy, what's a farang? Quote

Farang (falang) = foreigner Condoms: better bring with you - in Thailand they have small sizes in shops... and in pants Free testing is available in Thailand, but mainly it is up to boys if they visit testing or not. New type of ID have date of birthday in both styles thai and "normal": look at the center: Quote

Guest Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 You will not the obvious problem with ID cards is small unclear photos. Add in 5 years of ageing & it is often difficult to be sure the card belongs to the person carrying it. Cards do get lent to other people in bars. Check the photos yourself very carefully & don't rely on the hotel to do it. Bringing your own condoms is easier, but they do sell different sizes in Pattaya. A couple of years back, one guy I spent a couple of nights with happened to work in Family Mart & he very quickly pointed out the size on the back of the packet & advised me to get the larger 56mm size (they had different sizes available). Back in the UK, after checking all of the displays in Tesco, Boots and Superdrug, I could not find any size larger than 56mm . Quote
Guest manforlads Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 Thanks guys for all your help, its much appreciated especially the honesty. I at least know what to look for now. I beleive that research before a trip can help to avoid mistakes later, and i am a novice when it comes to paying for sex at home or abroad as never have done, kokopelli is obviously more seasoned than myself in this regard. I am sure that other new guys might want to ask some if not all the questions i have, and now dont have to ask, they can read your responses Quote

Yes, I was seasoned from my nights in the strip clubs of Montreal. However there is so much info on the various gay forums that the answer to all your questions is there if one looks and reads. Nonetheless, just step into any of the go-go clubs in Thailand and you will know all about money boys, go-go boys and farang and even the worst of the worst, mamasans, within about 5 minutes. I do grant you that the first time entering a go-go club might be intimidating, but then, you are not going to Thailand for a Sunday sermon. Stop fretting, take the plunge, and have the best time of your life. Quote
