Glow Trinity Silom Hotel in Bangkok

I have been looking for a nice reasonably priced hotel for friends coming to Thailand in July. I noticed in one of the Thai papers today a promotion for the Glow Trinity Silom Hotel which is near Chongnonsri Skytrain station. It seems to be an older hotel that was fully refurbished in 2006. From the comments on agoda and the many photographs on its site, this seems to be a good deal at around Bt. 1,620 per night inclusive of tax and service. Does anyone know of it?

At October 2009 when Om Yim had no rooms for me (I got idea to travel to BKK just in 4 days in advance) I had stay in "Glow...". It was before renovation and hotel was terrible: dusty carpets, old furniture, cracks on wall and floor tiles. Transparent as tea coffee at breakfast. Instead of planned stay for 5 days I left hotel at next day. Hope it is now better after renovation: at least references now aren't so bad at Tripadvizor.

Thanks for the information, Moses. I see several sites give it much improved ratings over the last 2 years, but I remain concerned about the reports of bedbugs prior to the renovation. They'd have had to throw out all the bedding and linens and then thoroughly fumigated the place to get rid of them. I'm not sure I want to take that risk on my friends' behalf.

only have seen it from outside-after renov.

But: there appear to be more GLow HTls-nearly same-named. Again-surprisingly, the shamelessmack website has a review on it-I quite well remember he booked it as he saw an incredible low price, but then discovered it was an annex or 2nd rate sister nearby. So spare you the odd minute to look at his rec-s for it.

Thanks for the advice. pong. I've been through shamelssmack's site a couple of times. I think you may be confusing the Glow hotel with either i-Residence of which there are a couple of the same name near Chongnonsri and Mack was indeed booked into the wrong one, or the Glitz Hotel which is a little further away. I cannot find a mention of Glow Hotel.

However, I see his latest post mentions a great deal avaiable on agoda for the Arnoma Hotel on Rajadamri - for July it is around Bt 1,900 inclusive and will be perfect for my friends. So thanks again.

Yes, the Glow is one of my places that my Thai bf and I will stay at when we have a "BKK weekend" (we live in Pattaya) The hotel has been totally remodeled and I like what they have done to the place. Some people won't like the grey-black walls but I like the techno look. For the price they have a decent breakfast...and here is why we like The Glow: You can use the Olympic size pool across the soi which also has a small decent weight room and a sauna. The other place we like is the remodeled Rose Hotel. I look for the 1200- 1600 range. Sometimes both of these hotels are more so then we stay at the basic, but clean Silom Regent Hotel which is down from GOD disco - great location.

I have been in the Glow trinity hotel 2 times now and I like it very much. It not a gay hotel but gayfriendly. They welcome my thai boyfriend and I guess some of the staff are gay. Rooms very nice, esp. the king size with very soft linnen............. You can you use the swimming pool, which is opposite of the hotel (just cross the street), on the 9th floor.

Breakfast is not very special and the area there is not refurbished.

Although I can recommend the hotel, it is only 2 minutes from BTS Chong Nonsi.
