Olddaddy Posted Sunday at 08:15 AM Posted Sunday at 08:15 AM I quite often read guys on here using the train to get from the airport to their hotel I always use a car but next time I won't bring much luggage and if I'm not tired I would like to use the train So could you guys give me some help. When I go out of the airport luggage past the customs I turn Right walk past the shops and taxi drivers holding sign boards etc down towards the end ,towards the escalators? So if I wanted to go to Saladang or Silom ( staying Tartawan) what is the railway route ,do I need to change trains / stations? Quote
Popular Post vinapu Posted Sunday at 01:35 PM Popular Post Posted Sunday at 01:35 PM wherever you exit customs are and you are back on freedom ( there are two exits so on one you turn right , another one turn left ), you go down escalators or elevator to lowest level. You will see green carpeted slope - it's leading to the railway station . To the left you will see some kiosks with soft drinks, selling SIM cards and most important -exchanging money. Rates there are only minimally worse than at XOne on Suriwong so feel to exchange money there, as much as you want / need. You can buy train ticket in machines or there's ticket window. There's you chance to change that 1000 note into smaller denomination. It costs 45 baht and in 25 minutes you are in civilisation. There are 2 ways of getting to Silom area : 1/ go all the way to last station -Phaya Thai which is connected to BTS station of the same name , take train in direction of Kheha and 2 stations later cross the platform and take train going to Bang Wa. Alight on either 2nd (Sala Daeng) or third (Chong Nonsi) station depending of hotel you are staying and either march , walk or stroll to your destination. 2/ alight from the train at Makkasan station and using covered walkway go to Phetchaburi MRT station . Take train going in direction Silom - Hualampong. $th station is Silom across the park or next one Sam Yam by Wat Halampong which is bit closer to many hotels including Tarntawan. Don't worry about your luggage , you are strong man, there are escalators everywhere an your suitcase has a wheels. Going in reverse direction I's take only route 1/ as sometimes train is very crowded on Makkasan which is 2nd station on the way to airport. Certainly it was case on , Saturday week ago when I was heading to airport at 4 and people in Makkasan were squeezing and elbowing to get in which I watched from comfort of my seat. Trains run 6-24 so at night taxi is your only option. xuk, ichigo, tm_nyc and 3 others 4 2 Quote
