reader Posted November 17 Posted November 17 Once a Ramada property and later the Tawana, the building on Surawong (opposite Soi Tarntawan) is progressing slowly but steadily into what is shaping up as another 4-star addition to the area. Viewed from above, extensive build out in the rear of building is on going. vinapu, khaolakguy and TMax 3 Quote
khaolakguy Posted November 17 Posted November 17 Interesting aerial view and appears extensive as you say. Is it actually ongoing? Would that be Rose Apartments in the foreground with the swimming pool? Quote

Would that be Rose Apartments in the foreground with the swimming pool? Yes to Rose Apartments. I could see them from my room in the Meridien, which is on the left. The GM of the Meridien said the building would not be that tall! khaolakguy 1 Quote
reader Posted November 17 Author Posted November 17 There’s a crane on site so I assume it’s a work in progress. Will keep an eye on it. The Rose Hotel (behind Meridian Hotel) can be scene with it’s oft-mentioned, shaded swimming pool in this photo. … khaolakguy 1 Quote

TMax Posted November 19 Posted November 19 Taken over by IHG (Intercontinental Hotels Group) and will be rebranded as The Voco Bangkok Surawong, I'm not too sure if the plans have changed but they were originally looking at reopening some time in 2025. reader, khaolakguy and fedssocr 3 Quote
Keithambrose Posted November 19 Posted November 19 I see they are still saying 2025, but I think they will have to get a move on. Voco is said to be a 'premium brand', but i notice that the other Voco to open, in Sukhumvit, is classed as 4 star. TMax 1 Quote
fedssocr Posted November 20 Posted November 20 I recently stayed at the voco in Osaka. The brand is very boutique-y and designer. But I think 4 star seems correct. I think that's a good addition for the neighborhood. But I'm a bit of an IHG loyalist. TMax 1 Quote
