Guest fountainhall Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Well! Well! Well! We’ve seen so many cases of right wing bigots in the west promoting wholesome family values and then being caught with their pants around their ankles. Yet such ‘errors of judgement’ rarely seem to hit the headlines in Asia. Today, though, Indonesia has been rocked by a scandal involving a member of parliament from an Islamic party which promotes anti-pornography legislation who has resigned after being caught watching porn in parliament. Mr Arifinto of the Islamic Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) was photographed looking at the images on Friday. He said he had inadvertently opened an email link which led him to the images. (Pesky things, computers – our fingers do the walking and we have no idea where they will take us!) Pornography has become one of the testing grounds of conservative Islam's influence over politics in Indonesia. "For the recent developing media coverage, I apologise to all members of the party and parliament," Mr Arifinto - who goes by one name - told a news conference. "I will continue to work for my party. I'm also going to continue to better myself, by repentance, reading the Koran and asking for guidance." http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-13032128 “Inadvertently?” You can surely do better that that, Mr. Arifinto! Isn’t that what they always say before a bit of weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth, followed by a serious bit of repentance and bettering themselves? Oh, and a bit of guidance from a good book always goes down well with voters, doesn't it? Get rid of such hypocrites, I say! Sentence him to 100 lashes in public with a blow-up barbie doll! Quote
Guest Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 100 lashes, that's way too lenient. Death by stoning! MPs really sh uld allow people more freedom. Anti pornography MP??? What next, an anti breathing MP? Quote
