My First night in Siem Reap

Woke up early to take Grab to DMK from Tarntawan , don't forget to add any promos you have available, front desk at the Tarntawan reminded me, I would've forgotten.

AirAsia was 30 minutes delayed, no one seemed to mind, what a difference to the US, lol

Grab was about 30usd from Siam Reap airport to hotel  when I checked ahead of time, hotel offered pickup for 35usd, was def better to have someone waiting, I did advise them of the delay.

Hotel recommended by @vinapu is 100% great, so far....I'd say is 5* service and comfortable rooms walking distance to everything, about $40usd a night all in with breakfast, king bed with balcony, I'd stay here again in a heartbeat, Crown Royal hotel.

I was a bit sleepy by the time I got settled in , even though they gave me an early check in easily and maybe they thought I was bringing my make believe wife from the picture shown 🙄

I ordered a double smash burger with fries and a ginger ale for $7 usd delivered and was really tasty. Took a nap, watched depressing news about the Orange monster and headed out about 940pm.

Went to B-Ball first, small bar very nice guys, I was only customer so a little awkward , stayed for one soda and moved around to Home Cocktail, too many females, then to Rendezvous, too empty, and then to Barcode, lots of females but a nice show and friendly staff. 

Nothing interesting on the apps, but plenty in the streets that are my type, however all with girlfriends/spouses 

After the shows at Barcode went walking around some more, most places close at 1am except Pub Street, too many Heteros for me, lol

Went back to Home Cocktail and 2 guys that were in the show recognized me and invited me to sit with them.....one was one of the drags in the show, I told him I'm bottom and he tried to get me to go with one of the guys that was the dancer...saying he could massage me and had a big dick. Until i showed him some Colombians and Brazilians, they both almost fell to the floor. It's all relative I guess 😆

I would've taken a massage from him but by that time, I was too full and tired to do anything...plus there was no hard sell, marketing classes could come in handy here.....tomorrow is another day?

Super cheap compared to Thailand for everything , but no hookups, maybe my fault for taking such a long nap 🤷‍♂️

I also stayed at the Royal Crown Hotel on the recommendation of @vinapu & liked it a lot.  It's close to everything in the center but a bit removed from the Pub Street scene which I don't particularly care for.

FloridaRob, be sure to drop into GOD which is across the street from Rendezvous. A lot smaller than Barcode but bigger than Rendezvous. Owned by a young Khmer guy who has a lot of cute friends that hang around there. They sometimes put on cheesy drag shows.

I always enjoy Home Cocktail but I only drink the beer there. All the spirits are cheap fakes and you will get a very nasty hangover the next day. Same with all the street bars: nasty, cheap hooch. There is a reason they can sell their cocktails for only $2.50.

Some food recommendations: Olive for fine French dining at a very reasonable price, Red Piano for great ribs, Elias for Greek food, Jungle Burger for, well, burgers.

Yes Sat night, still isn't high season everyone says.

Barcode, yes gay, mixed crowd

Only on Pub Street from what I could see, straight bars....I saw lots of guys I liked but they were with their girls or a group of friends.

Rendezvous, Home and Barcode seemed to be the busiest places when I was there last year plus Grindr seemed to be quite active. I’m off to PP next month and hope things are busier there xx

I dont think we can call Barcode a gay bar anymore.

The customers are now 50 to 70% female depending on the night. Straight women who seem to get thrilled to be in a "gay" bar. They must think it's the utmost fashion 😉 

Or maybe it's just the show.

So I'll mark Siem Reap as a one and done..... Heading to Phnom Penh this afternoon, was there maybe 8-10 yrs ago and was ok.

The Water festival ceremony will be taking place while I'm there, not into water sports, but hopefully can find someone. I'm told people come from all over to see it, lets see how it goes 🤷‍♂️

If you enjoyed Barcode then you'll probably really enjoy the drag show at Blue Chili in Phnom Penh. They moved to a bigger location and is more like a club now but the drag show is excellent. The only downside is that, like Barcode, it attracts a lot of straights and women.

Spacehair Bar had a lot of nice eye candy but, alas, all were straight gym bunnies. But still is an enjoyable place.

The new Toolbox pub was fun. A nice mix of twinks and cute gym-fit guys - all gay apparently. Also quite a few freelancers hang around there. Best of all - no women anywhere unlike the other bars in PP.

The Phnom Penh version of DJ Station is called Heart of Darkness. Go after midnight on Friday or Saturday night and it will be packed with cute gay guys. Quiet any other time. Just don't drink the alcohol.

Lots of nice boy massages in the Russian Market area. Chanak, Boran, Ah Ram, Aroma, Ganesh. All within a ten minute walk from each other. All have nice facilities like aircon and toilet/shower in each room. The boys are all behind glass wearing a number, like the gogos in Bangkok. Pick the boy and away you go. Going rate is $10 for an oil massage. Expected tip is in the $20 to $30 range.
