khaolakguy Posted November 8 Posted November 8 Slightly misleading signage given it says underneath Hotel Surawong, which is another hotel altogether. More nefarious I think, and also where I stayed when first visiting Thailand a long time ago. There was always talent and entertainment to be had in its cafe at that time. Strangely I also remember it as the first place at which I had freshly squeezed orange, which was served every morning at breakfast. I have kept acquaintance with its short time rooms from time to time, although not for several years now. Quote
reader Posted November 8 Author Posted November 8 When the woman who owned original Tarntawan Hotel sold it (and adjacent apartment building at corner of Soi Tarntawan), buyer changed name to Tarntawan Hotel Surawong. khaolakguy 1 Quote

It's where I had to go to get my ice going back to my room...very friendly people there, they wanted me to join them, but I was "busy" Quote

Indeed, I stayed there more than ten years ago, when it was known as Tarntawan or Tarntawan Hotel. I still think it's misleading, and even presumptuous, to add the name of a longstanding pre-existing hotel not 400 yards away, Hotel Surawong, to the name by which this place was previously known. Anyway thanks to Reader for explaining when/how this name change took place and for drawing our attention to this beer garden, a euphemistic description of the access road to the hotel with not a plant in sight! But much more importantly were the guys inviting handsome and possibly available? Quote

No, they were customers drinking, but friendly. vinapu 1 Quote

If you’re looking for availability, there are quite a few cute guys working at Avarin Massage’s two shops on Surawong, one of which is situated at corner of hotel driveway and the other one a shopfront away. I can attest that they do one of best foot and leg massages in Silom along with oil massage done in rooms with table and in-suite shower than can accommodate two. 🙂 10tazione, vinapu, floridarob and 2 others 5 Quote

Popular Post reader Posted Saturday at 11:17 AM Author Popular Post Posted Saturday at 11:17 AM After massage at Avarin, stopped in Tarntawan Beer Garden. Selected chicken with noodles and vegetables (80 baht) and small beer (79 baht). Food sourced from Hotel kitchen and tasty. The also offer barbecue kabob grilled outside. vinapu, TMax, floridarob and 3 others 6 Quote
ichigo Posted Saturday at 12:05 PM Posted Saturday at 12:05 PM Oh nice! So this place is literally in the driveway leading up to Tarntawan? Where cars used to park? I think it's a great utilisation of the space for some extra revenue. splinter1949, floridarob and vinapu 3 Quote
