I booked Ibis Styles Silom for my coming trip, the other hotels I looked at were the Raya with Tarntawan in 3rd place. I basically just needed a hotel with a gym and a pool this trip as I need to keep fit for upcoming surgery and my usual walking in Bangkok just might not be enough, so not having either is a downside to the Raya and Tarntawan for me this trip. Not into the bars so location isn't an issue although the Ibis is still close enough if I were and still close enough to the restaurants and massage parlours.ย

Best hotel with big gym I stayed in was Quarter Saladang, big gym like a normal commercial gym with free towels and water and nice pool

I like The Rose. The rooms are a bit old and there is no gym, but the location is good, the price is great and the pool is amazing. No problems with friends joing either. Has anyone else stayed there?

Me and I can second your findings. Those days one of most economical options in the area

Furama Silom, great location, unfortunately you will be waiting a lot for the 2 lifts /elevator ๐Ÿ›—ย

Furama Sathorn, old rooms reminds me of Tartawanย

There is a hotel just around the corner from Heaven Sauna in that laneway ,is it ZEN ?

I can't remember I walked past it ,it looked okย

One more vote for the Meridien,ย  so long as you get access to the Executive Lounge. Happy 2 hours has such a selectionย  of food, that you do not have to go out for dinner. Today, calamari, thai soup with rice, stir fried porkย  with mushrooms and vegetables,ย  spaghettiย  alio e olio, aubergines in cheese sauce, plus cold meats, salads etc!

I forgot the Thai chicken soup...

Le Meridien is very good and the breakfast was great.ย

I'd throw Crowne Plaza Lumpini into the mix. It's my go-to because I mainly stay at IHG hotels. Very good breakfast buffet and eggs cooked to order. Excellent location for BTS and MRT

The Tarntawan was actually reasonably quiet, given its convenient location. I could hear the sound of motorbikes from time to time late at night in the first room I was given. When I booked for an additional night, I was asked to go from my room with a double bed to an opposite room with 2 single beds. That room was absolutely quiet. I liked having a bath to soak in as well. I didn't try the breakfast. Visitors show their ID at reception.ย Siam Heritage was equally quiet. Both are good value.

Quarter Silom is recommended for location, breakfast, gym, saunas, etc, though the pool location could be betterย

Quarter Saladaeng is worth considering. It's further away from the gay scene, but within walking distance.

Furama Silomย

Good location but I won't stay againย

Rooms are big โœ…

The balcony is lockedโŒ

The lifts / elevator are a long time wait โŒ

Pool โœ…Screenshot_2024-11-10-00-37-53-48_965bbf4d18d205f782c6b8409c5773a4.thumb.jpg.afe1d4972d8f2fd8075e82545a7d2cd5.jpg

The Rose was my go-to hotel when I first started visiting Bangkok back in the early 2000 's.

Even then it was rather old but it was very conveniently located. The front desk was 'manned' by 3 wonen who, so I heard, we're sisters and owned the hotel.

Every day I'd bring guys back - Mr P in the afternoon, Mr O with the big cock in the evening. Sometimes I'd bring other guys back and on the odd occasion they didn't have proper ID, they would 'interview' them and then tell me whether or not I should take them.ย

Sometimes when I returned without a guy in tow they would ask : "You no have boy today?".ย

"I will later. I've just come back to get some more money."

On my last visit to Bangkok earlier this year I made a point of seeing if the Rose was still there, and it was. I was tempted to drop in and see if the women were still there and if they remembered me.ย

I changed to the Tarntawan and that became my regular hotel for many years. These days I stay at the Raya.

The only time I stayed at the Rose was way back in 1988, the room was very basic and very small, in fact the only redeeming features back then were location, price and the restaurant downstairs. The staff wereย good too and very helpful.ย

I have heard that the Rose Residence,ย  next door to the Rose, is good. New, boutique, upmarket,ย  with small pool on roof. Anyone been there?

Have anyone stayed at 56 surawong? I'm thinking between this and tarntawan for my next visit. Do they change the bedsheets daily?ย

I usually stay at quarter silom but their prices just keep going up and up ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ

That's true, the hotel is already too popular ... I am thinking of changing to Quarter Saladaeng next year.

I considered that, but it's a 20 mins walk away and that's too far...however they do have a nice big junior suite room for the same price as a normal room at quarter silom tho...

I remember going past SENSO massage up past that wayย

That sentence is in dispute very much. I consider this one of best hotels in area, not that it matters much. Before every trip first I check pricesย  for it as well as Raya and BaanSilom, my holy trinity of Silom Hotels

Furama sathorn is a bit of a dump 1980's styleย

Balcony overlooks the carparkย

For around the same price you can get Furama Silomย

Of course the best hotel for me was Quarter Saladang great gymย

Have anyone stayed at The Inn Saladaeng? It's cheap and have good reviews. But I'm not sure if I could bring a boy back without raising an eyebrow...

I can't imagine there are hotels in Bangkok, specially in Silom area, where bringing boy back to room would be a problem... Anybody ever stayed in a hotel where this actually was a problem?ย
