Guest fountainhall Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 WIth Songkran coming up, I am curious what others do about tips for staff in condos. In mine, there are 2 regular security guards, a receptionist and a technician and his assistant. The security guards are particularly helpful in getting taxis, but all the staff are extremely good at their jobs. When I moved here, a friend recommended giving Bt. 3,000 to the head security guard and a smaller amount to the other, Bt. 1,500 to the receptionist and head technician, and a few hundred to the assistant. One of my neighbours gives roughly the same amounts. I realise that there are lots of different types of condo in different locations which would merit different amounts. But do you usually tip at Songkran? Quote
mahjongguy Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 A lot of the people around us (maids, security guards, massage guys, etc.) will go upcountry for Songkran. If you haven't been slipping them tips on a regular basis then now (b4 the 10th) would be a great time to be a little generous. All those folks who go to visit their families are expected to bring cash from their "big jobs" in the "big city" and it stresses them that they can save up so little. Quote
TotallyOz Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 But do you usually tip at Songkran? Yes, security, housekeepers, etc. They remember you being good to them. I think it is worth it. Plus, all the boys need extra money during this time. Quote
