Foolish
Going for a short trip to Phuket, I know the main gay area is at Paradise Complex. But are there any bars like those in BKK and Pattaya? If there is, what are the expected fees and are they all concentrated around the complex? Members Tartegogo
https://maps.app.goo.gl/2TLzdyGA8xYKEDN1A This video from google maps shows there is at least one bar like this at the complex. I have no idea about the prices.
vinapu
My last visit ( which was also my first) was in January and I detected only 2 bars :ZAG and other one in the same soi of Paradise Complex as well as several male massage shops in the neighboring 2 sois. I did not get lucky in Zag and was less than impressed by services in massage venues. But statistic sample was small due to only 2 days there. Still overall had fun on the island but not in rush to return. You can check my trip report from January for more details. vaughn
Last time I went to paradise complex was 2-3 years ago, the bars seemed more like jomtien complex host bars than anything like gogos (this was during covid, so that may be a factor). There weren't as many guys, but you can ask one of the workers to have a drink with you and negotiate from there. I only had a few drinks with guys and didn't take anyone so i can't confirm price expectations. I had a few massages in the small soi in the middle of the complex, i had a decent experience there, same price as bangkok. I didn't see any other gay oriented places other than Paradise Complex, apps had a few guys around looking for customers. vinapu, Foolish, pong2 and 1 other
12is12
Foolish, if u visit the Phuket forum u'll c that 95% of the threads there deal not with sex but with news and tourism. There's a reason 4 that. M actually frustrated that my 2 Dec 2022 very detailed reports fron there have disappeared. Zag is great 4 show and dance, but no guys4sex there. I concur with Vinapu's dismal opinion of the massage scene. Best 2 lower expectations )-: Olddaddy, Foolish and Londoner

WelshGuyUK
I'm here right now and Phuket is very nice if you explore on a motorbike. Lovely viewpoints to be seen and Karon Beach and Kata Noi beach are lovely. Patong beach not so good. Went the first night to Soi Paradise ( gay area) and so disappointed. Nothing but full blast dance music and 90 year old drag queen's 🤪 Walked to next Soi....which is massage Soi and some said 'no sex' on the doors. There was one bar called Heaven Bar in which I was the only customer. Manager was nice but other guy just gamed all evening on his phone. All in all it's not a fraction as good as Jomtien. Won't bother again. And Phuket a lot more expensive than Pattaya/ Jomtien also. However, I'd still say come see for yourself as you will then have a true opinion for yourself 👍 Tantric, pong2, vinapu and 1 other

abidismaili
What do you think is the reason for this lack of gay gogo's and bars and good massage? They don't want gay tourists? Many Thai guys, gay or not, are willing to sell their body for money. I even ask Thai boys themselves what percentage they think of Thai boys is willing to have sex for money. They all mention percentages around the 90% range. So in Phuket there can't be a lack of willing guys. Ask this question yourself to the Thai guys you know. I am curious if they also quote such a high percentage. pong2

This is my first time exploring the gay part of phuket but it sounds so dead 😅 I remembered the first time I visited phuket with friends around 10 years ago, I sneaked a quick look into Paradise and it certainly wasn't as bad as it seems to be now... There was at least 8 Gogo bars on my first trip to Phuket in 2001. The decline happened after the Tsunami, when gay tourists stopped visiting and the older generation of gay visitors decided travelling to Pattaya was easier than an additional flight to Phuket 10tazione, bkkmfj2648, vinapu and 1 other 3
Marc308
Thanks guys, your descriptions are amazing... amazingly bad! Once upon a time (15? 20? years ago), Patong had a thriving and lively gay scene in Paradise Complex (and elsewhere). It sounds like the same plight which has visited Sunee Plaza has hit Patong now. The massage places then were also more conservative than those in Pattaya, but there certainly were "No Sex" signs on the doors, that's for sure! And Phuket in general was always more expensive (think hotels, food, transportation) than either Pattaya or Bangkok.

Let us hope and pray that the same demise that hit Sunee Plaza does not also hit BoyzTown after the unappealing marketing change that was made to BoyzBoyzBoyz (BBB). BBB being the primary anchor of BoyzTown would greatly impact its future outcome. vinapu
