Hotels in Recife and SP ?

Recommended Posts

Please recommend hotels in a nice night-walkable area in both cities.

Recife - is it a good idea 2 stay close to the Boa (apparently the only sex venue there)?

SP - is Lagoa's area hospitable? Now that the Heritage has been disparaged, any other closeby hotel?

Thx (-:

Boa Viagem is the default suggestion for Recife. It’s a nice neighbourhood, by the busy beach and full of eye candy but it’s a 20-30 reais uber trip each way to the saunas in Boa Vista. Traffic can also be bad. Expect around almost 30 mins during peak hours. Blue Termas is the only sauna in Boa Viagem and it has less GPs than the ones in Boa Vista.

Btw, all saunas in Recife are mixed (meaning has GPs present, some more than others). Friday, Saturday and Sunday are packed in Termas Boa Vista. Lots of young and beautiful crowd. You can’t tell who is a GP or not. Today l had fun with someone I thought was a GP but turned out he wasn’t. I had more fun on a Monday, both paid and free than the weekends. In the weekend, I see most hot GPs are either with their old customers or hot guys. Some hot guys I suspect are getting it for free in the cabin.

Hi @12is12

May I ask what happened with Heritage? It is my hotel to go to in SP.   Yes, the rooms are small - ok, very small, but I like how quiet it is, has a great breakfast, and is very convenient to Lagoa. If you like to walk, since it is not that convenient to Uber, it will need to give more turns than necessary.

it is an alternative and cheap but comfortable hotel, The San Gabriel, that is equally close to Lagoa and another hotel I stayed at once: L'Hotel PortoBay.

Of course, it all depends on the budget. I love that area: Rua Frei Caneca, very close to Lagoa, Consolação, and Paulista. And it has a cute and convenient mall. Also it is pretty gay.

Thx a lot.

Nothing "happened" to it. I wrote it was disparaged, bcs on a recent thread three members wrote disapprovingly about it.

M happy to read the area is a nice one; I thought I read otherwise in the past...

Oh, maybe it's because of the Heritage price and the narrow rooms? I will continue staying there. The last time I visited was in April, and it was fine. I love how quiet it is! If San Gabriel didn't have those weird tiny stairs to get to the rooms, I would stay there more often. I found the prices at San Gabriel to be ridiculously cheap, but they are often sold out. I discovered San Gabriel thanks to another Lagoa patron, a Dutch guy.

The area around Frei Caneca is beautiful. While some people favor Jardines, I adore how easy it is to walk from Frei Caneca to Avenida Paulista and any of the hotels I listed for Lagoa. I hope you have a great trip! I am eager for mine to arrive in Rio.

I liked heritage…I like the bar restaurant across street I had such a good burger there. What I didn’t like is the delay in the light coming on when you get out elevator cause it’s a sensor.

I probably mentioned this before but beware of apartments in São Paulo as far as bringing guys over. It’s like night and day with Rio. In São Paulo there are many new construction buildings with all sorts of biometric stuff. Many forbid visitors 🙀. Rio buildings have a doorman who calls up on a phone and ask if they can send  whoever up. I have rented a couple of places on airbnb is Sp that said nothing in the house rules but visitors were a big hassle. I found a couple (older buildings; I prefer Jardins) that use the old style and I repeat, to a much greater extent than I do in Rio. You could come right out and ask the visitor policy but I guess I’m a bashful slut. My rule of thumb is if the building has a gym, (which I would otherwise like) forget it.

Ps in case you want to be at ground zero for the Garotos com locals, I would say (from ordering dozens of Ubers for them, a rather annoying convention btw) that there is a remarkable concentration of them about 1km east of Lagoa, south of Republica in the triangle bounded by viaducto Julio de mesquita, 23 de mayo and 9 de Julio. (Google Bella Napoli brixiga pizzeria) I’ve never been to this area, in fact, but I’m assuming it must have some appeal that they all live there (and I’m guessing a fair number of non-GP gays too). I hereby christen the area Gigolandia. (Has a better ring to it than GPlandia) Not to be confused with Crackolandia (it’s really called that) to its north.
