Guest aot87 Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 I am interested in staying at 1 of the following hotels in bkk for a long weekend, Landmark , JW Marriott or the Holiday inn on Silom Can any one recomend one of these ? ( not interested in joiners) Quote
Guest Thor69 Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 The Landmark and JW Marriott are on Sukumvit Road and are more luxurious than the Silom Holiday Inn. I have stayed at all three and would recommend the Silom Holiday Inn as it is nearer to the fun places on Suriwong Road such as the Patpong Night Market (which is off Silom Road and Suriwong Road) Duangthawee Plaza with all the massage places, the go go bars, including Dicks Cafe, etc. If you like muscle guys, the Tawan Bar is on Soi Tantawan opposite the Tawana Hotel. If you are looking for rest and relaxation, lots of luxury and want to be spoiled the other two hotels on Sukumvit Road are your best bets. Thats my two cents. Quote
bkkguy Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 or there is the new Crowne Plaza Lumpini Park on Rama 4 between Silom and Suriwong (used to be Pan Pacific) bkkguy Quote
TotallyOz Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 I was at the JW last week for 3 nights and loved it. I have also stayed at the Holiday Inn next door to the Intercontinental. It is fabulous as well. The Holiday Inn on Silom does not compare to the others. The Crown Plaza is nice hotel but they are a bit snoody there. IMHO Quote
Guest Thor69 Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 If you want a luxurious experience without all the attitude try the Le Meridien Bangkok Hotel 40/5 Surawong Road, Bangkok, Bangrak, Bangkok, 10500. When I stayed there in January, they were very accommodating. When there were any problems, they took care of them quickly and with a smile. Quote
TotallyOz Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 not interested in joiners I have stayed at many of the hotels you mention. To avoid joiners fees, when you book, book for 2 people. If they ever give you a problem, add the boy to your room. When he leaves, remove him. When they do this once, they won't ask again as it is a lot of paperwork for them. I have never had any problems with these hotels in taking boys up. The hotel security will often ask to hold the ID or make a copy of it and that is fine with me. I prefer the hotel know who I am with. Quote
Guest loneranger Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 Landmark is a very nice place with a great buffet. Quote
