Guest fountainhall Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 I am not sure Swine Flu ever really went away, but The Nation is today reporting that Singapore has had its first Swine Flu fatality of the year. A 77-year-old Singapore man has died from a lung infection related to the H1N1 virus, the first such case in the city- state in 2011, a media report said Saturday. The man died at a Singapore hospital on Wednesday after he had been warded a week earlier for fever as well as breathing difficulties, said the Channelnews Asia website. The Health Ministry earlier said that influenza and acute respiratory infections had risen in the past few weeks with cases caused by the H1N1 virus, also known as Swine flu, being the dominant strain. http://www.nationmultimedia.com/home/Singapore-reports-first-swine-flu-death-of-2011-30147525.html I had a flu shot in October at BNH in Bangkok. The nurse told me that new batches of the vaccine provided protection against the latest variant of Swine Flu. The young and the elderly seem especially vulnerable to this Flu. Shots are highly recommended. Quote
Guest fountainhall Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 I noticed today that Hong Kong has reported 2 deaths from swine 'flu and another 27 are in intensive care. If you haven't had the latest flu' shots and either travel within the region or are planning a trip in the near future, make sure you get the latest one that also covers the latest strain of H1N1.
