I-phone in Thailand

I will at long last be returning to LOS in January. I think there was a thread about this not long ago but I can't seem to find it. I want to bring my i-phone with me and be able to use it for texting and voice. (I will also be bringing my laptop, so don't need data on the phone) My service is through AT&T and they have a program to be able to use my phone while there. However in a previous post, I seem to remember someone saying that you have to change the sim card when arriving in Thailand. Is this true, and if so, how will I be able to receive voice calls and texts to my U.S. phone number. I am somewhat electronicly challenged and would appreciate any light someone might be able to shed on this topic.

You not "have" but "may" change it for to have possibility for cheap calls to thai numbers (if you want). As well you can add voice auto-message to your USA-number with your new thai number. Then all callers will call you to thai number and they will pay for calling but you will not pay for roaming.

Thanks for the information. I plan on getting an inexpensive "to go" cell phone after arrival in LOS for making calls within Thailand. I just need my phone for business to be able to call and text the U.S. although rarely.

I would get your phone "unlocked" before you come. AT&T should give you the "unlock" code for free. You will then be able to swap SIM cards as you choose.
