Olddaddy Posted September 25 Posted September 25 Maybe I just got older & uglier 👴👴 But to my way of thinking I believe boys of nowadays are not as hungry for cash as the past 💲 You'd think with all the expenses mobile phone, clothing etc that many would be.📵📴📲 But I see many now in most particular the Bangkok Grindr not actually working as money boys and if they are they are wanting near Western prices I'm not only talking about the apps but if we go back 25 years there were boys in the street trade ,there were many straight boys gay4pay 🏳️🌈💲in Thailand I don't see that as much now I notice this is not only in sex work with younger generation but in all facets of work ,eg my workplace you won't find any younger people wanting extra money by doing overtime shifts say on a weekend yet they have the latest mobile devices etc but don't need or want to put in the effort anymore I remember I used to work 2 jobs when I was younger day job and then driving a taxi on weekends 🚕🚖 Quote
Verchiele Posted September 26 Posted September 26 Average salary for graduates in Bangkok ranges 20000-30000 baht with a bachelor degree. Retail worker earns only 12000 baht a month. Massage therapist easily earn 30000-80000 baht+ a month (based on job posting from massage shops). I am sure a Go Go boy earns as much … I think the monetary incentive is certainly still there for those who wants to do it… reader 1 Quote

On my last trip on few occasions I was surprised to a point of being taken aback of how freely they passed easy option to make substantially more. Their choice I thought but being happy I was not. floridarob and Olddaddy 2 Quote

I am sure a Go Go boy earns as much … not sure if your assumption is accurate but it actually makes sense a lot. Graduates and retail workers can stay in their line of work for long time while masseurs and go-go have much shorter shelf life in their chosen occupation. Ever shorter are their prime earning years reader 1 Quote
Olddaddy Posted September 26 Author Posted September 26 I think it's the generation not just in Thailand Maybe it's too much credit 💳 cards I don't know Even my Filipino boyfriend🇵🇭 30yo, I have to push him to work overtime His workplace is full of young people under 30 who none want to work weekends 🕺 I had to tell him when I was his age we were begging to work weekends as it was more pay.💲💲 He even tells me that they had to hire people part time over 60 to fill in weekend shifts as the young people didn't want to do it 😮 Travellerdave, reader and vinapu 2 1 Quote

Some personal observations: You're more likely to experience guys more willing to pass on extra cash in the bars than in massage shops. The earnings among masseurs vary a lot. Factors include the obvious (attractiveness) and hours worked, but the most successful depend on repeat business from locals and frequent visitors. That repeat business typically comes about if the boy is multilingual and manages to establish a rapport with a client and keeps in touch on a regular basis. Customers satisfaction is the key to their income. As for how hungry individual boys are is a function of two factors: how bad to they need the money (for personal and family demands) and their attitudes to how they most desire to spend what we all know is our most precious commodity: time. Take for example the boy who easily forgoes additional pay for the opportunity to get together with his buds after work. When you're young, that can be a compelling lure. Although farangs recall their work ethic when they were young, don't expect the boys you meet to be impressed. It's a different time and a very different culture. vinapu, Olddaddy, 10tazione and 3 others 6 Quote
