travellers checks

Recommended Posts

Does any one know what thai banks charge to cash travellers checks, and does it change if the check is of a higher amount

It's been so long since I cashed travel checks that I don't recall the exact figure, but it is very nominal. It is a per-check fee, depending on the demonination. Perhaps someone else knows the fees.

If you are going to use travel checks you will probably get a better rate by doing a bit of shopping around and checking the private exchange houses. They usually give a better rate than most banks.

TeePee, if you happen to read this thread I think I recall that you have an exchange house that you recommend. Is that right?

If my memory serves me right it is a nominal fee, a little over 30 baht but not as much as 40 baht. I believe the charge is a per check fee and so the charge is the same for a $20 or $500 check. Hope this helps.
