Motorcycle Taxis -Selecting One

I don't often use motorcycle taxis, but when I do there's the little issue of which one to take?

Obviously the most important part about a motorcycle taxi journey is getting to the end of it without death or serious injury.

So logically, one should select one driven by some steady old guy who's clearly driven carefully enough to reach at least 50 years of age. Older drivers tend to be more careful. Right?

However, I find all this is forgotten when there's an opportunity to hold on tight to some nice cute lad. The older drivers don't stand a chance.

I don't expect z to be impressed with this, but I was more than happy to get from A to B on the back of a taxi ridden by a woman. Nice steady progress and none of those flashy manoevres some guys seem to relish.

If I'm paying, I choose which motorcycle I get on. They're generally all over the place trying to get business.

Perhaps it's different in Pattaya, but there I usually use the baht bus or my feet to get around.

Hey, those hot young guys have faster reflexes so they must be better riders!!! Be sure to get up tight against them and hold on really tight!!!

I believe that women are the most careful motorbike taxi drivers. Forget the old timers; one guy in Sunee Plaza was so old that he could have been my father. Not sure what he did but I fell off the bike 2 seconds after I got on it. Well, I did have afew too many drinks.

This should make you all feel more secure. A couple years ago we had a head on collision with a motorcycle taxi driver who had elected to cross Sukhumvit going the wrong way. He went through the windshield of our car. A few hours later we got an apologetic telephone call from his wife (the guy didn't die!!) and she explained that the problem was he was blind and could not see! Scarey!!!

That's justified me picking the young cute drivers.

Simple rule. Whenever you see the bike and the driver as two blurry images, time to walk of take a cab.
