TotallyOz Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Will be in Cambodia for 4 nights for fun this weekend. Anything special I should do? Any bars you recommend? I have my hotel arranged so I am not worried about a place to stay. I did meet a cute Tuk Tuk driver on my last trip but I lost him number. Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated! Quote
PattayaMale Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 The best Tuk Tuk driver I ever had was Chea YA in Cambodia. His English is excellent!! He is helpful in every way My friend Tom and I have used his service twice. I highly recommend him!! Phone +855 17773460 (when in Cambodia 017773460) email chea.tuktuk@gmail.com Ask him about the ATV trip he took us on. A day of great fun! Quote
PattayaMale Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 When I went by myself about 6 months ago, I paid him about $35 dollars a day. I hired him to be with me for the entire 4 days. I did give him a tip and at some places had him drink with me. But he would not drink more than 1 alcoholic drink because he was driving. Although many guys at the massage places and bars speak English, I did need him to translate. He was good at negotiating for me when I went to buy things from the stalls. There is a couple great places he took me to est. One was a BBQ and Soup place where they have an enormous buffet. You took whatever you wanted, and all you wanted, and cooked it. The owners brother lives in Long Beach, CA. Another place that was great he took me and a guy I picked up was to a place called "Mother in Law". It seemed to be an upper middle class Khmer restaurant. Really fun and good food. They had a Karaoke type (stage singer but others can join in...not loud at all) on the second floor where we had dinner. Chea Ya will become more than your Tuk Tuk driver. He will become a friend if you want. He is not gay but...His personality is terrific. He knows both Tom and me by name so if you contact him, please mention our names. I called him from Thailand at the number I posted and he met me at the airport. I hope you give him a chance. Knowing you I can almost guarantee that you will be well satisfied. Tom and I are considering possibly hiring him in January and taking him to Sihanoukville. Quote
Guest Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 The following covers gay destinations. Cambodia Out You should visit the Bllue Chilli bar. For non-gay destinations, The Tonle Sap prison sticks in the memory. Have fun. Quote
PeterRS Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Don't recall a Tongle Sap prison. Don't you mean the Tuol Sleng Museum? This was the school which housed the infamous Killing Fields prison. Quote
Guest beachlover Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Hey GT... I was in Phnom Penh Recently. Just posted a big trip report here: http://www.sawatdee-gay-thailand.com/forum/any-other-country-f15/phnom-penh-cambodia-trip-report-t20485.html#p216496 Make sure you go to the Heart of Darkness Club/Disco. It's awesome. Bodia Spa is also excellent. I'll post a Siem Reap report soon too. Moderator: If I pose my Cambodia trip report here I assume you want me to put it in the main Gay Thailand forum and you'll move it to the Cambodia forum later? Let me know if otherwise. I'll chuck it here tomorrow. Quote

Guest Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Beachlover, put it here. It would be great and one of the moderators will move it over later. OK. My first day inPhnom Penh was great. A few set backs. First, Thai Air really sucked today. They has us take a bus to a plane and the ride was 15 minutes long. Then, we all boarded but they waited on 2 other planes to arrive and we sat on a hot plane for over an hour. That put us over an hour late. I paid 17k baht for my roundtrip ticket so I was pissed. The food was less than mediocre. The service even less. So, for all my raves in the past about Thai Air, the truth is they sucked today. Really sucked. I decided to stay at a nice hotel for the week and the rate is about 150 US a night. They did upgrade me to a nice 1 bedroom Executive Suite so I am thrilled with that. But, the wait to get to my room took forever, Some Korean guests (entire group) was checking in at same time and they beat me to hotel. When I got to front desk, they said, "Oh, you can check in on the private floor." Shit. I waited for nothing. I went to: Blue Chilli Bar # 36, Street 178. I LOVED it. I met the owner and several others and had a blast chatting. As soon as I entered a "pro" attached himself to me and I could not get rid of him without being rude. So, I chatted with him for an hour while I was looking at this adorable muscle boy. Finally, the boy came over and we chatted and he said he was gay, loves everything with sex and loves 3ways and anything else. He is a student. His English is perfect and his muscle body was yummy. We made out a bit and he is coming to my hotel after his school tomorrow. I am quite excited. I had a Tuk Tuk guy drive me there and back and wait for me while I was inside. It was 10 USD. It seems everyone in the city knows the best Tuk Tuk guy. The man at the VIP lounge told me of his friend and wrote his number for me. I then went down to Concierge and he told me of a guy and called him for me. The driver showed up fast and we went. As soon as we got out of the hotel compound, another guy took over for the driver. All weird IMHO and I am going to try to hook up with PattayaMale's guy. After I left Blue Chili we were a few streets away and a guy on a motorcycle drove up and started chatting. He said he would find me a girl. I told him no. He said he had beautiful girl. I said no, I like boys. He said I can find you a boy. I said No, I like you. He said I can go with you. We talked about what he could and could not do and he went to hotel with me. He chatting on the bike the entire ride while I was in a Tuk Tuk. We got to hotel and he came to room and he was wonderful. Not a true gay guy but a very sweet young man. He said he was 26 and finished with school and has University degree. His English was perfect and he even got my humor. I had a great time with him. The city is filled with cute boys. They are everywhere. Every time I come here, I find I like it more and more! Quote

Guest beachlover Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 Cool... sounds like you're having fun! Are you staying at the InterContinental? What's the area around it like? Walking distance to restaurants etc? I stayed at the Foreign Correspondents Club because I wanted to be right on the Mekong Riverfront in Sisowath Quay. I just posted a trip report in full here: http://www.gaythailand.com/forums/topic/6450-gay-phnom-penh-cambodia-trip-report/ ... mods can move it to the Cambodia forum once it gets old. Quote
Guest Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 Yes, I chose the Intercontinental. I am a point whore. I can't resist getting my points from them. So far this year over 100 nights at their hotels so I am good to go for their Royal Platinum Ambassador status for at least 2011 and 2012. That gives me free upgrades, free minibar and free Internet. That is a huge savings when you stay in a hotel. It is well worth the effort for me to play the point games with all the hotels and airlines. My recent trip to Brazil was totally free and I used miles to fly there and points for all my hotel stays. The area does have restaurants that you can walk to and eat. There are some nice places right outside the compound. For those of you close to PP, Blue Chili Bar is having its Mr. Blue Chili contest this Friday night. It should be a blast! Their website does not show this event. Not sure if they keep it updated or not but I saw flyers in the bar last night and my Muscle Boy (coming to my hotel soon I hope) is supposed to be in the contest. Quote
Guest Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 Just had a nice lunch down by the waterfront and it was enjoyable. At least 30 boys approached me to buy sunglasses. All of them spoke English. I met several backpackers from Spain, Netherlands and Germany and chatted with them for a bit. I then met 2 Arab boys traveling through Asia. I went back to their guest house and had drinks with them. I enjoyed the chat. Tuk Tuk to get most places here is 2 or 3 dollars. They are in abundance and plenty of them. Quote
Guest beachlover Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 I am a point whore. I can't resist getting my points from them. LOL... Yeah, it's nice getting privileges and you can get great value being loyal to them. But personally, I wouldn't compromise on where I really want to stay for that. Especially if the 5-star chain is out of the way. I'm picky with location. Staying in an optimal location makes a huge difference to lifestyle. I like staying in boutiques in some places and the big 5-star ones in other more bustling places like the big cities. If you go to Siem Reap, you can't beat some of the boutiques they have there for location, luxury and character. My recent trip to Brazil was totally free and I used miles to fly there and points for all my hotel stays. Oh god. I have mates who do a massive amount of travel with their employer, flying first/business and staying for weeks and months on end at top hotels. So when they want to take a personal holiday they almost pay for nothing. Bastards... Quote
Guest Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Went to Blue Chili last night for their Mr. Blue Chili contest and it was a blast. The place was packed and tons of boys. My little muscle boy from the night before made 2 mistakes which cost him an overnight last night. 1. He came in and introduced me to his BF. No problem there. The very next words were, "so, are you going to buy us a drink?" I said sure and they ordered red wine. OK. I'll give him that one. 2. He took the drink and left. About 20 minutes later he came back and said, "so, did you bring me a present tonight?" I looked at him and said, No, did you bring me one? So that was it in my mind and my eyes started looking for another guy. The show was great and I enjoyed it. There were 12 contestants and they came out with a variety of outfits. I didn't stay to see who won as I had took this handsome Japanese guy who came for the show home with me. There were tons of foreign gays there and lots of younger white boys. Also, there were tons of ladies in attendance. Since I was not going to take the boy I knew in the contest, I had no desire to stay and left early to be with the guy I met. I also went to the National Museum yesterday and to the Genocide Museum. Both were worth a visit but not impressed at all with the National Museum. Driving back last night I saw 3 fist fights in different locations and crowds gathered around the fighters. Police were trying to break up one and the other 2 were started and at least 100 people gathered in the street to watch the fights. This made me more than slightly uncomfortable. I was ready to get to my hotel as I did not feel safe in the Tuk Tuk. 3 fights on the way back from Blue Chili to the hotel I am at told me that the streets here may be dangerous at night. The Tuk Tuk driver told me to keep in the middle of the Tuk Tuk. I did. Was this an anomaly? Quote
Guest beachlover Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Did you visit the "Killing Fields" (forget Cambodian name) too? I found this the most sobering. Didn't see any fights while I was there but first night I went for a walk along the riverfront promenade and saw one tuk tuk bump into another and overturn it. A crowd quickly gathered on the footpath to star, some grinning and seeing if they were going to fight LOL. Quote
Guest Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 I did visit the Killing Fields, the Genocide Museum and the National Museum. I also went to a shooting range and on an ATV trip with a local lad. There is so much more to Phnom Penh than the gay bars and honestly, I found the majority of the talent in places other than the bars. Every single male at my hotel is gay and willing to meet up. Every waiter I met is the same. Most are not looking for money but are looking for a good time and perhaps a chance at a long term fling. I went to several nice restaurants on the River and by my hotel. I went to several massage places and like the girl massage places better than the boy ones. Overall, anyone who visits Thailand should spend a few days in PP. IMHO Quote
Guest beachlover Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 There is so much more to Phnom Penh than the gay bars Absolutely... I enjoyed Siem Reap better during the day for its chilled out atmosphere and Phnom Penh more for the nightlife (though visiting the markets and other tourist sights were definitely good). Every single male at my hotel is gay and willing to meet up. Huh? You serious? There are that many gay boys. I may have to stay there next time Every waiter I met is the same. Really?... I have a terrible gaydar. looking for a good time and perhaps a chance at a long term fling. The good time bit is great. But I sometimes feel a bit guilty that a long-term thing just isn't going to happen, but that happens everywhere I travel. I went to several massage places and like the girl massage places better than the boy ones. Bodia Spa http://www.bodia-spa.com/ is right around the corner from the FCC Hotel at Sisowath Quay (same street as Blue Chilli I think). Highly recommend it. Overall, anyone who visits Thailand should spend a few days in PP. IMHO Totally agree... Quote
