"Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit Mongolia next week, the Kremlin said Thursday, despite the country being a member of the International Criminal Court, which last year issued a warrant for his arrest. The visit, scheduled for Sept. 3, will be Putin’s first trip to an ICC member state since the warrant was issued in March 2023 over suspected war crimes in Ukraine. Under the court’s founding treaty, the Rome Statute, ICC members are bound to detain suspects for whom an arrest warrant has been issued by the court, if they set foot on their soil...".

Putin is supposed to be arrested if he goes to any of the countries marked in green:

I'm sure Mongolia told Putin they wouldn't arrest him. But it could be a trick. Once he gets there, who knows?

a toothless organization that is manipulated by anyone and everyone...

And the most remarkable thing in this forum thread is that citizens of countries that do not recognize this ICC write about the ICC...

The biggest mockery of the ICC was the recent decision of the Ukrainian parliament - last week Ukraine ratified the law on recognizing the ICC with the proviso "the jurisdiction of the ICC does not extend to citizens of Ukraine"...

And they detain him ,who comes to pick him up ?

Interpol ?

Of course, since Mongolia is a land-locked country, they would have to fly over China to get him to the Hague (possibly via South Korea or Japan). One might wonder if China would block such a Mongolian plane, since China isn't a member of the ICC. Mongolia is in a tough spot, since either Russia or China could make things very difficult for them, no matter what they might really want.

They want Russian oil and gas and gas pipeline over Mongolia to China for to get money for gas pumping. It was main reason for visit - discussion of agreement for "Power of Siberia - 2" gas pipeline.

By the way: most of Mongolians can speak Russian and they speak very clear. Russian as foreign language is studying in almost every Mongolian school. Moreover - Mongolian alphabet is Cyrillic.

I never forget when Putin visited Australia a number of years ago

When he got to the airport can't remember if it was Sydney or Melbourne but when he got to the Airport to leave ....he walked over to the motorbike policeman who escorted him and shook his hand .

I bet that cop remembers him
