PattayaMale Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Someone posted what would be the best place in Bnagkok to live. Several posted the area they though would be best. I have had to go to Bangkok for things other than the gay venues, like the Embassy, Hospital, etc. But I have not figured out how to navigate the city. When I drive I use my GPS. But some of my friends have seemed to figure the city out as far as the different areas and what is in the different areas, and how to get around using mass transit. Can anyone point me to a simple map that will help me understand how to navigate Bangkok? Quote
Guest fountainhall Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Can anyone point me to a simple map that will help me understand how to navigate Bangkok? I swear by this one. Even though I live here, it helps me locate sois and places I have not been to before. It is great for the city centre, but it stops around Asoke in the east and the river by the Grand Palace in the west. If that's OK for you, it does list things like hospitals, embassies, shopping malls, hotels etc. And on the back, it has a much larger scale map of greater Bangkok showing expressway entrances to the city. The map is laminated and does not self destruct easily! You get it at Asiabooks, Bookazine etc. Quote

Although I get around Bangkok pretty good, I think I have much more to see, do and learn about the city. I was wondering if a GPS would be a worthwhile item to obtain. I don't drive in Bangkok, but would feel more confident with a GPS if it had a pedestrian mode. Quote
Guest beachlover Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 How do you feel about using Google Maps? That's what I use in Bangkok. Quote
Gaybutton Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Along with having a GPS, I have used some of the products by Thinknet. Excellent! And several of their products are sold at Bookazine. http://www.thinknet.co.th/06/eng/home.html Quote
