Guest travelerjim Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Yesterday, September 9th, my bf drove me to Sriracha Immigration for my annual Extension of Visa (Retirement), new multi-entry permit, and 90 days reporting. My official Thailand address is the townhouse which my bf owns in City of Chonburi - adjacent to Sripatum University, therefore, my Thailand Immigration contact is Sriracha Immigration, mid-way between Chonburi & Pattaya. Arrived at Sriracha Immigration at 2:15pm. I filled out the paperwork form for each of the above, and was invited to be seated. My bf and the kind Immigration Officer who was at the Reception Desk took the paperwork and processed it all quickly. At 3:00pm, I thanked them for their fine services and we left Sriracha Immigration Office complete with: My NEW One Year Extension, Multi-Entry Permit, and 90 Day Report ALL stamped into my passport. Next time, I will complete all paperwork - the TM7, Request for Extension of Visa, Multi-Entry Permit, and 90 day report forms - BEFORE entering their office - which will result is even less time at their office. Notes for Sriracha: .....No proof of residency was asked for nor was a billing which showed by address...I had my bf with me, they have seen him before with me at Sriracha Immigration. (Pattaya asks for some form of proof of your address). .....Only the front page of my Bangkok Bank bankbook and last page of the bankbook was presented. NO request for other pages in between. (Pattaya asks for copy of all pages in the bankbook). Thanks again for the kind and prompt services received by the Staff at Sriracha Immigtation. tj Quote

Just to put the record straight so that people are not given incorrect information, Pattaya did not ask for proof of address, and only wanted the first page and last page of my bankbook copied. I renewed my "retirement visa" this week at Pattaya, a process which took about 2 minutes queuing, 5 minutes processing the "visa" applicaton, come bnack next day to pick up the passport, then queue for about 5 minutes for re-entry permit and 10 minutes processing. Very similar to last year. Quote

Guest lvdkeyes Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 If you plan to use foreign income to prove the 800,000 annual income, you will still need to have "10,000 up" in a Thai bank, even if your foreign exceeds the 800,000 baht. Quote

He said he only keeps about 2,000 baht in the Thai bank, has the bank prepare the letter, and the letter has been accepted each year by Pattaya Immigration. Maybe it is one of those "unexpected rules" by some at some times ??? tj Quote
Guest Astrrro Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 I suppose 2K will work but i would think it is safer to have 10K in the bank. Btw, Americans have it pretty easy with notarized Embassy letters compared to Brits. Quote
Guest lvdkeyes Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 I don't keep much money in my Thai bank either. Last year the officer told me. "Next time, you must have 10,000 up in account." Quote
Moses Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 I'm wonder: if Thai baht become stronger: why not keep some money in baht in Thai bank? Quote
Guest joseph44 Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 Please note: Don't expect that the process next year will be as easy as it was this year. Interpretation on requirements change with the wind drections so are the officers at the Immigration Offices. Going on a Tuesday afternoon is perfect; never go on Monday Morning or Friday Afternoon! Bob Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 Question to the Pattaya ex-pats who need to seek the certified income letter for renewal of your one-year visas: Do you guys wait for consular visits to Pattaya to get your certifications or do you make a trip to Bangkok to get it? I'm just curious as it seems such a bother to have to go to Bangkok to get it (although, for those who like doing other things in Bangkok, I suppose it's a good excuse for a side trip). Quote
Guest lvdkeyes Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 I get mine when the Outreach comes to Pattaya to save the aggravation of going to BKK. I just got mine on Thursday even though my renewal is in February. I did the same last year and it worked fine. Quote

Normally I use the 800K method, but for one early renewal I figured I'd use the combo method and their was no time to wait for consular outreach. Trip is not so bad, I set up a 1:45 appointment, hop a morning bus, hang out in Bangko until about 10 and hop the bus home. A nice daytrip. Quote

Bob, YES...It is much easier to get the letter when US Embassy is visiting Pattaya. Have had no problem with Thai Immigration accepting the US Embassy letter...even if several months old. But TH Immigration does want and keeps the ORIGINAL...NOT Copy. Several years ago we could use a copy of the US Embassy letter.. and we would hold the original..NO more. tj Quote
