Guest sydneyboy
Has anyone stayed in suites at the Babylon Barracks? They have 2 types according to their website, the Baroness Suites and the Bvlgari Garden Suites. Your advice would be appreciated.
Guest pete1969
I have stayed in the Barracks rooms but not the suites. I will say that the hotel side of Babylon is very nice. First class reception area and a good (but small) breakfast buffet. The best part is that if you are a Sauna fan, then you get two free passes per day to the Sauna. The barracks rooms were very tastefully done in a very post modern sort of style. I won't be staying in the barracks again because it is a bit too much of a hostel feel for me (twin beds in spartan rooms and communal showers). I probably will not even stay in one of the suites because Babylon is very islolated IMO. While it is a short taxi ride to gay bars and shopping, the facility itself is on a small side street, and there is no 7-11 or food venues within close walking distance. Babylon has a couple of okay restaurants, but they close before midnight, and a very small selection of expensive minibar type items avaialable from reception. I'm one of those who likes to be able to walk to find food or snacks if need be. Also, if you are using a Suana pass, to my knowledge, it only gets one in and out of the Sauna complex once a day. So, if you want to eat lunch and then later hang by the pool and have snacks, then I'm not sure you can do so without paying for a Suana entrance. In addition, while the amenities of Babylon are superb, I'm not one of those who wants to take advantage of all my hotel has to offer dressed in only a towel (which is the case in the Sauna but not in the seperate hotel wing). I did get a peek into the suites, and they are very well appointed. However, bear in mind that if you want to use any normal hotel facilities (excepting for the breakfast buffet or the Internet lounge), then you will be doing so in the very busy main suana itself (restaurants, pool, workout facilities, etc) which has a different reception area and check in than does the hotel. I would also say IMO, the price of the rooms is not worth it unless you really plan to make Babylon the center of your BBK trip (and one could definitely spend all day at Babylon for several days). Guest nordy
i did stay in the suites once , and it's very nice, if you can afford it... althought it's bit on the pricy side, i was a bit sick of the spartan dorm room after 2 days and decide to have a splurge just for one last night... plus i wanted to have privacy with my man for one whole night... and i didn't even use my free pass for the entire stay... 9too busy having fun with my guy) i do agree if you are not a bath house fan, and you are exploring Bangkok temples etc... then stay somewhere else.. and visit BB for an evening fun or so....
