Tarntawan, Nantra Silom , Quarter Silom, - if you stay in those you don't even need to cross the street. If you can cross the street Raya, De Arni, 56 Suriwong and Le Siam are right opposite bar areas jamiebee 1 Quote
Kiwi306 Posted August 17 Posted August 17 In the past week I have stayed in Quarter Silom and Tarntawan. Once you have your bearings, most of the bars are within very close proximity. You certainly won't need transport to get around. Quote
macaroni21 Posted August 17 Posted August 17 I'm not being facetious here, but maybe other members of the board are assuming that olddaddy is able to walk the distances we walk. So maybe @Olddaddy can give us a better idea what his predicament is. 1. How far can you walk (in Bangkok's temperatures) before becoming breathless, or before your knees start to hurt? 2. How many upwards steps can you do without becoming breathless or knees hurt? Quote

Indeed, the social bars in Soi 4 face Silom Road, but the gogo bars of Patpong soi 2 are closer to Surawong Road (as are Moonlight and The One). It's hard to say which side of the Silom-Surawong block makes the bars more accessible. Quote
Lotusleaf Posted August 17 Posted August 17 Perhaps The Pavilion Place would meet your needs then you won't need to leave the soi for dining or bars. vinapu 1 Quote

I resisted. On another hand I had Tawan boys who suggested themselves to walk to Quarter Saladaeng, quite a distance. floridarob and jamiebee 1 1 Quote

Walking is not a problem to a certain degree but I'm a big guy and lazy ,I'm very fit although big belly I'm also very lazy , especially in heat and I mean the weather heat 😂 , I am a powerlifter in competition ,although cardio is much different from strength training But .....I don't like trying to cross traffic and last time I got a Grab motorcycle it took ages for him in traffic all the way to the bars jamiebee 1 Quote
jason1975 Posted August 18 Posted August 18 I believe Nishitetsu Hotel Croom is closest to the bars in Soi 4 and Soi Patpong 2 without crossing road. Just have to wait for it to open. Quote

Kiwi306 Posted August 18 Posted August 18 I still think you could consider Tarntawan or, if you have the budget, Quarter Silom, which has a pool, sauna and steam room as well as a basic gym. You don't need to cross roads to get to the bars or Silom 4. And it's a flat walk. Both of these hotels are just far enough back from Silom and Surawong roads to escape most of the outside noise, which is important for me. Quarter Silom rates can skyrocket at the weekend. I usually book through Agoda or booking.com. vinapu 1 Quote

Walk up Surawong and turn to the right on to Patpong or Patpong Alley 2 down to Silom Rd. From Quarter Silom it's a very short walk to Surawong or Silom. The Silom route takes you past the 9-teen massage parlors. Google maps gives you a walking time of 5-7 minutes to the many bars in the vicinity. Quote

Keithambrose Posted August 19 Posted August 19 4 hours ago, Olddaddy said: And apparently Captain Cook too I don't think Cook went to the Bahamas! Actually, these early navigators, Magellen, Vespucci, etc al were amazing when you consider the primitive vessels, and complete lack of any firm if map, or modern navigation equipment. Even earlier, of course, the Vikings, Romans, Greeks, Phoenicians, etc. vinapu 1 Quote
