Gas stations scam

Recommended Posts

Posted

Today I stopped at the gas station on South Pattaya road. I asked them to fill my motorbike gas tank and happened to notice that the attendant did not clear the display. When he was done he asked for 120 baht. I took the money out to pay him and pulled up put back on my gas cap. I noticed that the next bike asked for 50 baht and the attendant agin did not reset the pump to zero.

I said to the attendant "excuse me quotation". It was at this time that he pulled out 60 baht and gave it to me. So be careful. Make sure the attendant re-sets the pump.

Yes it is this Shell station. It seems like they have new staff. And you are right with a car, watch out

This has been a known problem for years - I simply never use the place and recommend other folk take similar action.

This has been a know problem and not only in Thailand. Years ago, I was scammed at a Vickers station in the US. As for this particular gas station, it is best to either avoid the place or buyer beware.

Thanks PM for the warning.

We will steer clear of them for sure!

I always look at the pump when we drive into a gas station,

have heard of such similar scams over the years in Thailand.

You assume I don't know that. I do.

Does that mean I shouldn't post it here?

I found I was able to access it from some connections in Thailand but not from others. I noticed a certain kind of setup, common in hotels with in-room LAN cables would always block it. Last trip I had no problems accessing it from most places I stayed.
