Popular Post CallMeLee Posted August 6 Popular Post Posted August 6 Apologies for not finishing my last trip report. Life happened and I was so time poor after leaving Bangkok. Planning to redeem myself and determined to complete a report this time around! I'm excited to share that I'm coming back to Thailand for a short visit and will be arriving on the 17th of this month. I'm particularly excited to check out the "new" The One bar which was still shuttered last time. Massage-wise, there seems to be some exciting stuff in the Saphan Kwai area. Plus, there are a couple of host bars that I am curious to check out. If any of you guys will be in Bangkok during that week, send me a message and let's meet up! Popular Post CallMeLee Posted August 18 Author Popular Post Posted August 18 So, after three days of work trip in Taipei perpetually surrounded by colleagues and having zero fun (seriously, how can you be surrounded by cute Taiwanese men and not have a chance to enjoy?), I finally landed in Bangkok, ready to unleash some excitement. My luck was on fire right from the get-go—I breezed through immigration, and my luggage appeared on the carousel before I could even blink. From landing to securing my Sim card outside for less 20 minutes. Seems like the universe is finally cutting me a break! I got to my hotel, Quarter Saladaeng, way earlier than expected, but lucky me, they had a room ready for an early check-in. This place seems pretty great! It’s competitively priced, within a healthy walking distance to Silom, and they've got a free shuttle to BTS Saladaeng/MRT Silom. It’s the perfect balance—close enough to be convenient but far enough from the chaos. Oh, and some the staff? Super cute! There’s one ruggedly adorable doorman who’s so charming I’d consider hiring him if he is a bar boy. He even helped me with my ridiculously large delivery of bottled water and random stuff. Fingers crossed I get to see him more. First stop: the reincarnated The One, which I missed last time. Big mistake , I showed up too early and asked if I could return the unopened can of Coke and come back later, and they were cool with it. I spent some time strolling down Surawong Rd., taking in the sights and smells. There’s something uniquely electric about this place—it’s crowded, a bit grimy, and just so sensory-stimulating. When it started to drizzle, I ducked into Good Boy and ended up chatting with their mamasan while lounging on the outdoor couch. She kindly invited me inside to check out the night’s lineup for free. Tee, the papasan, spotted me and started raving about their new hires—"Lao, Lao, Lao, so many from Laos!" he said. According to him, numbers 7 and 42 seemed promising. Before their show started, I left, promising to return later. At Tawan, the 10:30 showtime got pushed to 11. I was starting to worry that the recent negative reviews might be spot-on. The guys weren’t in top form, but as the show went on, I saw glimpses of the old Tawan charm—the friendly banter and lively atmosphere. I left hoping things will only get better from here. Back at Good Boy, the place was almost packed. The papasan directed me to a seat just as a customer was vacating it. Coincidentally, T—one of my previous favorites—was at that table and recognised me (even remembered the hotel we went to last time!). T immediately started working his magic, reminiscing about the fun we had at Khaosan Bar and insisting he’d like to "take care" of me again. He was pretty persuasive, so I decided to play it safe tonight and maybe check out numbers 7 and 42 next time. khaolakguy, jamiebee, xpaulo and 10 others 13 Quote
Kiwi306 Posted August 18 Posted August 18 I would have liked to have caught up and gone to a bar, but it's nearly time for me to depart for home. I was at The One on Friday night. Fortunately there was a bigger crowd than midweek. There were guys of all shapes and sizes. The customer numbers have been down recently. I think they need to have a sign outside advertising that it's a muscle bar. I'm sure that it's not universally known that Tawan is now The One As for the Quarter Saladaeng, it's my first port of call when I arrive in Bangkok. I like everything about that hotel. If only it could be placed where Quarter Silom is. When I am in Bangkok I spend some of my stay in On Nut, which is a long way from Silom, but often go in to Quarter Saladaeng for the breakfast buffet. I actually did that yesterday and afterwards sat by the pool. To my delight there was a stunning looking young guy there with 2 others, swimming and sunbathing, so I loitered longer than I intended. Maybe I should try to get there tomorrow. Anyway, enjoy your stay. BL8gPt, vinapu, eurasian and 1 other 4 Quote

I never wait for a shuttle but when not feeling like walking it was only 20 baht by motorsai to SalaDaeng station and from there it's easy walk to bars and world famous Unseco acclaimed Foodland Patpong 2 xpaulo and jamiebee 2 Quote
AsianExplorer Posted August 18 Posted August 18 My go-to hotel is Crowne plaza, close to MRT and BTS. I stayed at the Quarter in the past as well. It is decent too. Quote

I will have to start updating my map knowledge of Bangkok they are both connected by elevated walkway, it's about 1 km walk with good vistas on both sides, cross Lumpini park diagonlly from Kink's monument and you find another exit by the school, you will see crossover and this is where walk starts jamiebee 1 Quote

Do you know what the prices are for the One nowadays? Entry fee? Drinks? Price to off a guy? Tawan always used to be more expensive than non-muscle bars. And prices have been going up every year anyways. I’m curious if prices for the One (guys) are still relatively much higher than other bars. jamiebee 1 Quote
