Popular Post ggobkk Posted August 4 Popular Post Posted August 4 This is a continuation of my “Return” topic in the Gay Thailand forum. After a ten days in Bangkok and Pattaya, I flew to Japan for another ten day visit, 6 of which were with family and friends. That gave me some time to explore options. I had read the forum topic on boy brothels which intrigued me. I had long ago head of King College but had no experience of it or what are a multitude of others. Without too much exploring I identified the following: chanceosaka,jp kids-jp.com Fragrance-boy.com gym-k.com izakspa.com heroes-Tokyo-jp redline03.com urisen-next.com topboy.yoyyo olive-salon.net/staff jam-so11.com dgdgdg.com (Danshi Gauken) I am sure there are more, just depends on one’s location when in Japan. My travel plans settled me into the Osaka/Kyoto region. I was in Tokyo but only for a lengthy layover on the way from Bangkok to Osaka. After looking at the various sites and I encourage forum members to explore as the majority of the sites provide photos of their “representatives”, details on age, height, weight, penis size and what the guys will get up to or into. Many have info charts to summarize if the subject of the photo will kiss, will fuck, be fucked, do threesomes, whether they smoke or drink, if they will do films, and if they are straight, gay, or bi. As to how well a boy might kiss, fuck, etc there are graphic charts. A circle is a yes, a circle in a circle is a sign of experience. A triangle indicates boy is on a learning curve, an x is no. The sites vary as to how they indicate if a boy is a top or bottom. “Uke” is a bottom. “Maru” and “tachi” are slang for top. Some of the sites will also provide an introduction from the boy, a manager’s view of the boy, and client reviews. Chanceconnects to the boy’s Twitter also gives space to the boy to talk about himself - some are very clear about their erogenous zones. Then there is pricing - it is time based and can range from a hour to overnight. The better sites (my rating) are vey clear about how pricing works, if credit cards(and which ones) are accepted with or without an additional handling charge (as much as 7% at some places). You can book to meet the boy at the agency or at your hotel. Danshi Gauken prices are similar to most give or take a 1,000 JPY. An hour at 14,000 JPY for the office and 13,000 if the boy comes to your hotel. I asked why the difference and was told they don’t have cleaning time/costs for someone going to a hotel. The hour pricing is about $95 USD. Two hours is 19,000 JPY ($129 USD). Overnight /12 hours is 32,000 JPY ($287). One can contrast these prices with Bangkok remembering to add in the off fee and and drinks that may have attached themselves to completing the off. The two hour fee is about 4000 THB. As a culture, Japanese do not expect tips. Your up front cost is also the back end cost (in more ways than one). Whew…got the details out. I used both two hour and three hour bookings as I was testing and exploring. First lesson learned was make sure the agency serves the city your are in. I got caught by the photo and talents of a boy at the frangrance agency. Only to receive a polite explanation that Frangrance didn’t serve Osaka. Second lesson book ahead. Most of the sites similar to some Bangkok massage shops have multiple dozens of photos of boys. Best to check the photos on the “schedule” part of the website to see who is actually available and at what times. These sites will also show the availability for the next several days/nights. Some boys require that they be booked the day before the planned meeting. One of my offs who had this requirement told me it helped him with his own schedule as he was a student and wasn’t into hanging around the agency. The boys I “encountered” were always on time or early. One was arriving at 9:40pm which I thought curious until I realized they had calculated the time the subway would get the boy to my location. He arrived at 9:41. I engaged one boy from kids-japan. This did not go well due to an internal hesitation on my part. The staff at kids-japan are YOUNG, Japanese tend to look young, I thought my choice was a middle schooler and instead of any play took him to lunch. To each his own - this wasn’t mine. Chanceosaka.jp supplied a more mature companion, who was better looking than his photos (this was true in all cases), and more than will willing to indulge me. Skills were superb, no need to play games about kissing or any activities. No Vietnamese cry of “I’m Man”. NOTE: Here’s the scenario as noted in four instances: boy arrives on time or early. Agency has contacted me to confirm boy is coming and ask if a security card is needed for the elevator (this is also a check to see if I was actually in the hotel and in the room I told them). The boy comes in and it’s business. Payment is up front and in cash. Credit cards need to be used at the office. Boy may also be required to call his office to confirm he is with his client. Then it’s shower time. Japanese are very clean and want clients to also be clean. Shower together. It was over 95C every day I was in Japan so shower was also a cooling as well as cleansing. Erotic activities are encouraged, allowed, reciprocated, enhanced while in the shower and they lead to whatever the client indicated he wants. It was in the shower part that I realized kids-japan was too middle school for me. I had one visitor from Danshi Gauken and another from Chance. I really wanted a hook up with one of Chance’s employees “Daiki” but he was booked except for some times that with travel would mean only a handshake could happen. The Chance office manager and I went back and forth about filling a spot in my free time. He suggested I see who was working and interested me and he would check. This worked and an incredibly well hung, tall, and good looking young man knocked on my door a few minutes before the scheduled time. The Danshi Gauken representative was decently hung, incredibly handsome, tall and came with mouth wash, extra towels, and an industrial type lube which I was encouraged to apply generously when it would be needed. Danshi Gauken’s office also impressed me (and it was all email conversations) with their thoroughness and requiring the boy call them when he arrived and was leaving. They also sent a special email requesting I not keep the boy beyond a time when he couldn’t get the last subway train of the night. Given the heat and the crowding in Osaka subway stations, I don’t know what an office experience would be like. My Bangkok experiences lean me toward preferring a crowded group to select from. My Osaka experiences make me rethink. I normally would be wary of choosing from a photo, but the Japanese as a culture are very scrupulous and quality conscious and in the case of Chance and Danshi Gauken the actual was way better than the photos. It’s a different method but the end product was somewhat better than Bangkok as there was no need for in room negotiation and the boys I was with consistently wanted to know that I wanted and how to please me. A final thought not totally related, writing this report caused me to remember some 30 plus years ago in London visiting a house of boys, where one descended a staircase, was checked at the door through a port hole before being admitted, and then after business preliminaries settled, taken to a room when a curtain was drawn to allow me to look at the available boys all shirtless watching television, a boy was selected with no interactions, and I and the boy were taken to a room similar to a hospital room to go our separate ways when finished. Bleak. This was much more fun. In all three full sessions, had the impression I was the center of the experience which was to please/pleasure me. vinapu, neyger, paulsf and 13 others 11 5 Quote
vaughn Posted August 4 Posted August 4 I was in Japan this year and have been curious about the Japanese services, do you know if the Osaka rooms they provide in the same area? If I wanted to stay nearby for convenience, would it be better to stay near Shinsaibashi, Shin-osaka or Umeda? understanding the metro is convenient and easy, just wondering where the hotspot might be for gay services, if there is one. I'm hoping to return after my next Thailand trip, this time solo so I can try things out for myself. Quote
reader Posted August 4 Posted August 4 Thanks for the detailed report. Certainly gives us reason to put Japan on short list. Thought you were wise to trust your instincts in all matters. floridarob 1 Quote

To be fair when making such comparisons, one has to be rigourous in comparing like with like. In Japan, you were referring to escort agencies whereas in your second paragraph, you were referring to gogo bars. The typical escort agency in Japan expects customers to pre-book from an array of photographs. One can either use their in-house rooms or ask the manager to send the boy to your hotel. I am more familiar with in-house rooms so I will restrict my comments to this. The equivalent in Bangkok would not be the gogo bars but the brothels of Saphan Khwai. There too, customers browse and book via their photo arrays, and have a choice of in-house rooms or having the boy come to the hotel. As you noted, a typical rate for a one-hour session in an in-house room would be 14,000 yen. I'd say that is the lower end, and an average of 15,000 yen might be more realistic. This fee includes the room cost. What would be the equivalent cost in Saphan Khwai? I'd say a VIP room (see next para) would cost an average of 500 baht for one hour, and the boy might ask for 1000 - 1200 baht (say average = 1100) for one hour. So total cost would be 1600 baht. Why VIP room? Because the in-house rooms in the Japanese agencies come with private bathrooms (most of the time, at least) so using the principle of like-with-like, I shouldn't use the Saphan Khwai rate for the basic rooms, where the shower is down the hallway and shared with other customers. No doubt, some other posters would point out that in Jey Spa, etc, the boys expect much more than 1000 - 1200 baht for one hour. True, but again like-with-like. The type of boys the Japanese agencies offer are almost always twinks when we're talking about the 14,000 yen rate. So Saphan Khwai is a more appropriate reference than Jey Spa or Aurora Massage. Now let's do the currency conversion. At today's exchange rate of 4.15 yen to one baht, 14,000 yen would be 3,373 baht; 15,000 yen would be 3,614 baht. That's slightly more than double the Saphan Khwai cost averaging 1,600 baht. So let's not be too quick to sing the praises of Japan. That said, Japan still offers good value when compared to the ridiculous pricing in many Western countries. But then again, Japan offers good value in respect of food costs, public transport, healthcare and hotel costs, etc, compared to the crazy West. Now I will hand over to the experts from Latin America; would be interesting to hear of a similarly rigourous comparison from there. vinapu, bkkmfj2648, ggobkk and 3 others 5 1 Quote
10tazione Posted August 4 Posted August 4 Are the guys in Japan officially employed, do they pay taxes, do they get regular health checks? If yes, that should also be considered in a comparison. Mavica 1 Quote
reader Posted August 4 Posted August 4 Although unrelated to the on-line business in Japan, this article from last year explores a commercial outdoor scene. From Asahi Shimbun Male prostitutes on tourist visas busted in Tokyo’s Shinjuku district An increasing number of male foreign nationals are approaching men in and around Okubo Park in Tokyo’s infamous Kabukicho district to offer sexual services in exchange for money. Since the end of November, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department has caught four of these men in the act of solicitation, which violates the Tokyo metropolitan government’s nuisance prevention ordinance. This is the first time in three years following a lull in activity during the COVID-19 travel restrictions that Tokyo police have made any arrests for violating that particular ordinance. According to investigative sources, two Filipino nationals and two Thai nationals between the ages of 26 and 37 were arrested. They are suspected of illegal solicitation and waiting for customers. The men reportedly told investigators that, “There are women waiting for customers in Kabukicho, so I thought I could do the same,” and “A friend told me I could engage in prostitution-like activities in Okubo Park.” One of the four is a Filipino national, 26, who entered Japan in late November for a short-term stay. He said he had four to five customers a day, charged 10,000 yen ($70) to 20,000 yen each time and earned about a million yen over 15 days. He began coming to Japan for short stays this summer to make money and was arrested on his third visit. Under Japan’s Anti-Prostitution Law, waiting for customers for the purpose of prostitution is illegal. However, the law only applies to women. On the other hand, the Tokyo ordinance prohibits soliciting and waiting for customers for the purpose of prostitution-like activities regardless of gender. According to police, foreign nationals have been offering sexual services around the park for some time. During to the COVID-19 pandemic, this activity was reduced significantly. Since September, however, Tokyo police have been receiving reports of “people standing around the park for the purpose of soliciting prostitution.” The police believe that these men have been entering Japan on a short-term visa since the pandemic-related border control measures were eased. During the crackdown, police said they noticed suspicious men watching the area. Police believe that lookouts warn the prostitutes when police are approaching. The number of male foreign nationals soliciting male customers is increasing on the streets in and around the Wakabacho district in Yokohama’s Naka Ward as well, and Kanagawa prefectural police are stepping up their efforts to uncover them. vaughn, Mavica, vinapu and 1 other 2 2 Quote

From Asahi Shimbun On reading this article, something made me look up where Okubo Park was and then I realised that I was there in an earlier trip. I didn't realise it was called Okubo Park, and I would not have imagined it was called a park. It was a concrete quadrangle that looked like a cluster of ball courts. It was surrounded by tall fences (so balls won't get out of the space?) and when I was there (after dinner) the whole place was locked up and empty. Maybe it was only open during the day. However, I remember, very distinctly, seeing girls leaning on the fence outside of the quadrangle. They were obviously working girls because they were dressed in juvenile-looking make-believe costumes that Japanese men seem to like in their playtime companions. There were a few men leaning on the fence as well, but they were rather rough looking and I was pretty sure they were the girls' pimps. At no time did I think the men were available themselves. Or rather, I don't remember seeing any boys offering themselves. The only men leaning on the fence were those rough looking types. Maybe I was there just after some clean-up campaign. If so, the clean-up might have been very gender-specific, for the girls (and their pimps) hardly looked nervous about being hauled up. They were sooooo obvious. A small point: Despite what was written in the article, I think it is outside (adjacent to) the Kabukicho district, not in it. vinapu 1 Quote

a-447 Posted August 6 Posted August 6 When I was in Ni-chome (one of Tokyo's gay areas) I was often accosted by guys from Taiwan. Rather than pay 10,000 yen for street trade, I'd rather pay more and visit a legitimate place. It would be much safer and the guys' service to their customers is legendary; as you would expect in Japan. Mavica and floridarob 2 Quote

I've had those who tend to lie back and let the client do the work. I've had some who spend so much time performing the preliminaries, the 60 minutes are effectively reduced to 40 minutes. But I can certainly agree that the batting average is better than boys from Thai places, and I don't think Japanese management would tolerate the kind of guy that Daniu reported about in his thread "Bangkok Experience" - the Vietnamese guy who "bragged about how he was the #1 boy in" Bangkok's Good Boy bar and then made a scene over compensation. The flip side of all that discipline is that the Japanese boys are very conscious of time. If time's up, then time's up. They hop off the bed and turn on the shower. 🤪 floridarob, vinapu, Mavica and 1 other 4 Quote
