Guest fountainhall Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 I used to enjoy spending a little time in the morning and evenings reading gaythailand. It was fun, informative and sometimes deliciously irreverent. The sheer volume of new posts, many of them one-liners adding little to a discussion, now makes it a lot longer to read and is starting to make the whole thing a chore for me. The quality of the discussions has also deteriorated quite rapidly IMHO. I am as guilty as anyone and I apologise to those offended by this. But if the present volume is to continue, I want to suggest we have one no posting day per week to enable everyone to catch up. Quote
Guest beachlover Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 What if someone new or an irregular visitor comes along and wants to post or doesn't know he's not supposed to post on that day? Quote

I agree with you post...except...this contest was created, and to me at least a considerable amount of money was put up as prizes. Now I see with what others are doing, I have to answer each and every post in order to even keep up...let alone try to lead in this contest....It is a Catch 22 for those of us participating who also want to keep the post relevant. Bob Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 What if someone new or an irregular visitor comes along and wants to post or doesn't know he's not supposed to post on that day? As of Sunday noon (US time), you had 290 some posts. Now, slightly 12 hours later, you have 365 posts (and that'll likely rapidly rise in the next few hours). I realize that this is perfectly acceptable under the rules here - in fact, GT by his contest has created this monster - but, in my opinion, the billions of posts by a few have disrupted this board and made it no longer worth my time to even try to sort out what's worth reading. Out of frustration, I'm simply punching the "mark this forum" read button multiple times per day. Quote

You have choices. I guess if I win the $500 I'll donate it. But with the new rules, if I win the $1,500... well, that's a significant sum, enough for a plane ticket... so I'll think about it. Quote

One liners and replies just to add to post counts are not good for the forum...and a waste of time to those readers who really want to know what's happening and may have limited time each day to view the board. I will refrain from same, unless I feel that by posting that I have something to add to the post or discussion. To originate a post does take thought and time, especially if posting with pics and links, therefore I will post only when I feel that my post might be of interest or in answer to specific questions posed in the forum. Good luck to beachlover and others in the posting count game, as I now will take a back seat and seek to post occasionally. Thanks GT for your fine efforts with the GT board, and for the members, my apology if you may have felt I have been playing recently the posting game too much. tj Quote
