jason1975 Posted August 3 Posted August 3 Anyone following Olympic Games currently? I was absolutely enthralled by diving competition yesterday. It was the men's 3-metre synchronised event. I am infatuated with the divers from China - Long Daoyi and Wang Zangyuan. Unfortunate name which is reflected in scoring as LONG.D. They have such fabulous bodies and those abs are so yummy! And their armpit hair is so manly! The Chinese men's pair nearly lost the gold medal because of one poor dive. When they finally won (because the Mexicans couldn't match their score), Wang was overcome by emotion and cried. Long hugged him comfortingly. How I want to experience that moment and wearing skimpy trunks! Pictures are from my phone while watching the event. Apologies for poor quality. 10tazione and vinapu 2 Quote
vinapu Posted August 3 Posted August 3 I spend all my days now watching Olympics, my fist such treat since Barcelona games in 1992 but missed competition you are referring to. I like direct competition sports more then those where score depends of judges like gymnastics, diving etc Quote

Divers who do the pairs--regardless of where they're from--typically become almost identical twins and develop a closeness given to displays of affection that isn't lost on this audience. Thanks for giving us something to cheer about. vinapu 1 Quote

Travellerdave Posted August 4 Posted August 4 Yes during the tv coverage of the Paris swimming and diving events has me glued to the screen, especially of course the male events. Competitors with beautiful toned bodies and for diving I love the brief sexy speedo type briefs. The former is the product of endless hours of dedicated training in the pool and in the gym from a young age. vinapu 1 Quote

Don't feel bad though as he was also favorite to win of Donovan Bailey, winner of 100 m in Atlanta 1996, I saw it on TV about 10 minutes before the run. I generally like when less known nations are winning in any sport Riobard 1 Quote

I generally like when less known nations are winning in any sport I have a few comments. I also caught Bailey as I watched both CBC and NBC. Lyles won with PB incidentally and accelerated the best, so that itself anchors it, while Thompson a tad under his recent PB. Thompson’s first major international race, I believe. Lyles was clocked at 9.784 and I guess anything over 9.78 is rounded up although in other contexts it might be rounded down to 9.78, while Thompson’s was 9.788 or 7.789 and legitimately 9.79 rounding up. NBC wouid not show the formal equal 9.79 clocking within the total group’s times to the hundredth, while other broadcasters did. Maybe I missed it. That said, Thompson showed great poise getting the result and made the right choice to give Lyles his space, instead going to help up his countryman that had cramped up crossing the line … Actually aerial view suggests that Lyles veered much of his body off his lane in such a way that he would have struck the 2nd Jamaican towards the end if they had been shoulder to shoulder. Thompson made the wise decision to defer the congratulations I expect he would have liked to interject sooner while Lyles stayed on image, going overboard with his usual histrionics. It would have been a tie for gold at a certain point in the past but Thompson indicated the result was fair to him. Some of the bigger nations sure can trigger my schadenfreude fantasies. vinapu 1 Quote
vinapu Posted August 5 Posted August 5 Riobard, at least you were brave enough to publicize your pick BEFORE the race. I know quite a few people who AFTER the race or game say "I always said ABC will win " but somehow I never manage to hear it before results was known. My type for 100 was that South African guy Akani Sembine, who finished only 4th but secretly , along with line of always supporting small nations, I was hoping Tebogo from Botswana ( 6th) will make BIG upset Riobard 1 Quote
