Guest jack_peters Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 I do not post on any forums but just read them - until now. I have just read on the Gay Ting Tong forum a post entitled 'Underage Sex on the BBC'. In that post the author has a link to a You Tube video in which the subject of underage sex is discussed in cartoon format. The author then has a signature block which is: "Pattaya Street Kids Support Project". Am I the only person who thinks that the linking of the subject of underage sex with an advert for a children's charity is very foolish, potentially harmful to the charity and an act of negligent irresponsibility? I tried to register and send this message on the Ting Tong forum but I am told that my registration needs to be approved by the administrators. Therefore my efforts to keep this subject 'in house' has been quashed. I am posting my message here in the hope that a GayThailand member may also be a Ting Tong member and pass on this message. Thank you. Quote
Guest Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 Absolutely not. The owner of the board actively supports the charity and the link to it is on his signature. It is in every one of his posts. The fact that he allowed the BBC article in the first place is more than some message boards in Thailand will allow. There is nothing wrong with the BBC post and nothing wrong with his signature going to a charity IMHO. And, it would be best to wait till you were approved for posting at his board to post your question to him. He does not post on this board and we do not pass along suggestions to other boards or owners. If it is something that really bothers you, please send him an e-mail. But, leave us out of it. Quote
Guest gwm4sian Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 I can only echo GT's comments. Unfortunately, jack_peters attempt at registration of GTT was hampered by his supplying what appeared to be a false email address. However, his registration has been approved, so the debate can carry on in the correct place Quote
Guest beachlover Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 I can see why it could look bad to someone browsing onto the board, which is why I wouldn't do that myself. But I think most people can tell that the poster is posting a mainstream media article/video from a reputable media source (BBC) and differentiate it from the signature block banner though. But if it was an open discussion amongst sex tourists I would be worried about the image issue... Quote
