Sawatdee Gay Thailand Down

I can't access the SGT board. It says the account is suspended. That may mean the hosting has not been paid and as soon as they pay, the board will be live again. This does not look like it is a problem with the government censoring the board. It seems to be more of an account issue with their hosting company.

Hasn't this happened several times in just the recent months to this site???

At the Meet and Greet, some were saying that the new posts on Sawatdee has really slowed down. The group was talking about number of post during a 24 hour period. This board and Gaybutton_thai, were way ahead in number of posts.

Usually this happens once or twice a year, but the last time it happened was only a couple or a few months ago I think - not good.

Yeah, the posting has slowed down massively. There's almost as little activity as GTT now.

GayButtonThai.com has taken off very quickly. I think people were frustrated with SGT, but there was no really viable alternative to it so people would still post there. Once GayButtonThai came along, suddenly, there was a viable alternative so the people who were barely hanging on at SGT flocked away.

I don't think that the number of posts on SGT really makes a difference to the owners. They would not shut off the board just because the place got slow. The board has had its up and downs over the years but I can't see them just calling it quits. I am sure they will turn it back on soon and it will be up running again. The posters that gravitated to gaybutton's board from SGT will not last there. Gaybutton will not put up with all the shit that the mods at SGT do and he will delete them as soon as they get out of control.

IMHO, I think this is just a temporary set back.

I think that might be true for the trouble posters at SGT . But there were a lot of peaceful posters at SGT, like Bao Bao and such who were frustrated with it but have now moved almost entirely to GayButtonThai.

BL,

You seem to migrated to both here and GB's board quite easily. This is not an attack on you but I seem to remember you mentioning something less than noble re this board. I guess you have changed your mind....what happened?

If I had a penny for every time someone posted bad shit about this board, I'll be a millionaire. But, the board is now under new management and I see others are coming over here to test the waters. I am not as involved as I have been in the past and several on SGT took their Que from Smiles snide comments about me and the board. Some of their more infamous posters were really angry at me years ago because I refused to ban Letmetellu from this board. To this date, he is still not banned on this board and has full posting privileges. That upset a great many. One learns over time that all the drama associated with the gossip queens are really from a very few but VERY vocal group.

Gaybutton is not a moderator here any longer and snide comments about him would be an understatement. GayButton's old board and Smiles old board had some problems. I guess PeterUK could write a book about all the drama on the message boards. In the end, post where you feel comfortable. Post for the good of sharing information with other members. Refrain from nasty posts and everyone will feel comfortable on all the boards.

I honestly have no idea what Beachlover said about the board. And, honestly, it is irrelevant to me. It is history and it was somewhere else. Everyone gets a fresh start here.

Nice one GT,

Thanks for the heads up... I never knew that Smiles has anything to do with SGT before....Like a lot of people I looked at SWG but I never posted there. No reason, other than it never felt comfortable. I never understand why some gay guys become so bitter and twisted....

Cheers

Its amazing to me that they allowed about 6 lunatics who were just like a hit squad, as soon as any one had anything interesting to say, they would knock them down in flames. as flamers do, what I could never understand was they were allowed to do it and when some guys who write to me complained they said, they were Good and Well respected Posters, but they never wrote anything of note, only flamed people, so when gaybuttonthai site started, he was inundated with people who were terrified to write in swt for fear of being sent in flames by these, what I can only assume drunks or drug addicts, because no one would carry on like that in there right mind.

Then when most regular people found out it only costs $90 a year to run the site and they were continuously trying to drum up people to send the owner, hundreds of dollars a year, so may be now because the subscriptions have finally dried up, its getting more difficult to pay the domain fee.

It's a shame but if the owner is not interested, how could he expect any one else to be.

I hope the insain 6 are now happy they have now brought the site down to its knees, where only a few straglers now bother to either write about other out spoken writers, or rehash the old posts.

Having different boards with different flavors is one of the things I enjoy about the Thailand Gay boards. It is good to see the owners or moderators of different boards reading and posting on on each others boards.

There is one board that seems to be an exception. That board seems to consider it rude to mention another board on their site. They feel that it is advertising to mention a different board, but mentioning different bars is not advertising.

I agree that having different boards..different strokes for different folks..is a good think about the Thailand gay boards. I happen to like this one and Gaybuttons new board, but look at the rest once in a while.

Yes, that is a shame. ElephantSpike seems like a really decent guy but he is not as interested in Thailand as he once was. Perhaps Smiles will take the board over and run it again. He would be a great moderator.

Better yet, how about a LMTU take over? I'd love to see what he would do with the board.

I had considered buying the board many years ago when it was for sale. I decided against it only because of some of the problem posters that I didn't really want to deal with. Now, they seem to have migrated to another board. YIPPEEEE. If the moderators and owner had not deleted so many posters and posts when they banned someone, the site would be an SEO gold mine for anyone buying it. Now, I don't think the value is there. But, with a few hours of loving devotion each day, it would rise again. If someone is interested, talk to Spike. It would be a great name and board to run!

I have never really understand why any board would feel the need to delete posts or posters who give information about other boards. I thought it was always allowed on all boards. I know that CFS has deleted many posts about this board over the years but I think that is done by the mod there and not the owner.

I enjoy all the boards and they all have different personalities. It is hard to find a board that does not have good information about gay Thailand on it. Some you may have to wade through more than others. But, it is all there.

Yes... I remember saying I don't like how cluttered and messy the design is. Especially compared to the new SGT design (which is pretty much the same as the design of GayButtonThai). I suppose I got over that. Activity at SGT has died down a lot lately...

I have also visited here in the past, but not really bothered to register or go past browsing a few posts because the level of activity didn't look very high. It's certainly quite high right now.

Smiles originally founded the www.sawatdee-gay-thailand.com board. I don't know if this was a semi-hostile move (i.e. he led other members on a break away from another existing board, or perhaps the other way around).

I think he got tired and gave the board to Elephant Spike sometime later. Spike wants to sell it now.

I've only been posting on these boards for about two years... But I get the idea there has been a lot of conflict in the past for various reasons... I don't really know the whole story behind it all.

Its amazing to me that they allowed about 6 lunatics who were just like a hit squad, as soon as any one had anything interesting to say, they would knock them down in flames.

I think www.sawatdee-gay-thailand.com had a major problem with trolls who would just keep re-registering different/new handles and causing havoc every time they were deleted. Some of them went through 10-15 different handles.

The moderator got tired of deleting these trolls so it seems he just let the members take care of them in the best way they could.

Which one is that?... Not sure I've seen this practice on any board.
