Guest beachlover Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 It's in response to your post at the top of this page: -- "It is the BIB way of saying that the beer money must come through, and here is what will happen to your business if it doesn't....actually pretty simple." -- Think I took a phone call halfway through writing it so when I posted it two more had already appeared. Guest beachlover Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 So, let's see if I have this right....Customer's of gay bars in Sunee Plaza lead dull lives....Not a conclusion I would have reached! I think many of the retired ones do... but that's just personal opinion. Quote
lexusgs Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 Dull lives? Hell man....looking at your posting numbers this weekend. It can't be any duller than spending most of yours posting your one liners...he he. I'm worried about you BL, your a guy in your 20's aint you? get a life man Quote
Guest beachlover Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 I was out from after work on Friday night until 5am... On Saturday I was out with friends until midnight.... on Sunday I decided to be lazy, stay in, have a few beers and watch TV (I usually browse around and post on forums when I'm watching TV). I'd call that a pretty good weekend! Quote

They are out to dinner, off to the clubs/bars, attend cultural events in Bangkok....Actually to call their life dull is an insult to them!! Quote

Guest travelerjim Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 I think many of the retired ones do... but that's just personal opinion. beachlover, My last Saturday night was anything but DULL! I enjoyed GT's Meet & Greet, met many old and new friends... had some good food treats and good cheer too..Thanks GT! Followed by cruising Sunee several times, stopping into the Wonderland Show at 10:00pm...enjoyed the energy of the dancers and singers on stage and the "eye candy" too. about a dozen or so customers. Moved on to the bar next to Marine Inn...welcomed inside... drinks 99 baht...enjoyed my drink and felt sort of sorry for the 10 boys on stage as I was the only customer... Left the club and saw Penguin...he is a newbie to Thailand and really a nice fella. We had chatted at GT's party and now Penguin was cruising Sunee...good for him! Penguin had just left Happy Bar.. (I will leave him to share his experiences)... and I headed for Happy Bar (also know by many as Happy Boys Bar). When I arrived, there was but one customer..me! I found out later there were others upstairs ... though I did not look. About 12 boys in Happy Bar downstairs... all dancing and playful as usual. Enjoyed my 99 baht drink...and chatted with a few of the boys. Many types to select from..."whatever melts your butter" as a friend used to say to me. And all craving for attention...and your tips. No pushy mamasan...up to you if you want to buy a drink for a boy... tips are indeed welcomed...the 20 baht bills make great waistband fillers. Midnight struck and time for me to head back to my beach condo... had a most enjoyable evening...(really thought twice about cruising Sunee once again...but best for me to head back...and hopefully, there is always another night to explore further the delights of Thailand). Thanks GT again for hosting the party...and to the friends, new and old alike, it is always great to see you again. Penguin, your reports are much anticipated! And beachlover, never say the old fellas sitting around the deck chairs in Sunee are dull.... I can assure you, there lives here in the Land of Smiles are anything but dull. I can only hope I still have the energies they have and can keep pace with them in my now aging years... Indeed, they do have stamina and the smarts to know how to have fun, anytime...at any age! tj Quote

I think it's dull if you have no productive or constructive purpose in life other than drinking... having sex... eating and socialising. That's why I don't believe in complete retirement. Quote
Guest travelerjim Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 Here is the reported raid news from Pattaya One News.. with photos http://www.pattayaone.net/pattaya-news/27358/dsi-lead-raid-on-boy-bars-in-soi-pattayaland-1-in-south-pattaya/ DSI lead raid on Boy Bars in Soi Pattayaland 1 in South Pattaya The Pattaya Branch of the DSI (Department of Special Investigations), Thailand Quote
PattayaMale Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 We started with a number of 17 detained and now down to 3. I am also interested in who "funded" the raid. I feel competing business had something to do with it. If that is true, they are damaging there on business. There simply are NOT enough customers to go around right now. Quote

I'm miles away from retirement, but I prefer the other guy's weekends here in Pattaya it just sounds so much more exciting... Quote

If it is other business interest that are causing these raids then they are surely damaging their own business...And why is it only the Gay bars....Don't seem to hear much about the lady bars or even the ladyboy bars being raided every time you turn around...maybe they are paying more tea money!! Personally, I think if you're retired and that's ALL you do, it's a bit dull and not fulfilling. Quote
Guest YardenUK Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 I bet when the Thai Police raided Boyztown they didn't know their actions would get all the queers discussing retirement plans Quote
Guest beachlover Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 beachlover, My last Saturday night was anything but DULL! Well, I never said YOUR weekend was dull, TJ. But you can't deny there are a lot of retired farang sitting around Sunee, or Thailand in general just vegetating... Obviously not everyone there is like this, but they do exist. Quote

Guest lvdkeyes Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 Even young working stiffs can be in a vegetative state. You don't know what retired people do, so it is best to stick to things you know, at least, a little about. Quote
Guest badcdn Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 Maybe the BIB have more of a hard on for gay bars and gogo boys. It's been mentioned before that some GoGo's, even boy bars, are owned by policemen or spouses. Perhaps this raid was a warning shot across the bow from one such influential owner. Corruption is not unique to Thailand, it happens in the Western World, even at home here politicians pad the pockets of their influential business friends. In Thailand it's called corruption, in the West it's called Politics - same same. Quote

Guest lvdkeyes Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 I, for one, am bored with seeing BL's name appear on threads. Quote

I think, that nobody has the right to judge the other's way of living. What may be very exciting to me, may be utmost dull to another and the other way around. Some guys in their 20-ies live a rather quiet and introvert life and some guys in their 70-ies live a live as if every day can be their last. In Thailand they would say the famous words: "Up 2 U!" Quote
Guest beachlover Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Oh look... all this stemmed from my off the cuff remark, "injecting a little excitement in their otherwise dull lives"... maybe it wasn't so tactful but it's a commonly used phrase... please don't take it so literally. Quote
Guest lvdkeyes Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 We can only take what you say for what it is. Choosing your words more carefully might be a good idea. Quote
Guest FanOfThailand Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Maybe in the future the police will investigate a little further before relaying on an " unnamed tip-off" for a source for a raid with 90 police officers. Quote
