midwestdad Posted July 20 Share Posted July 20 Hey fellows! I'm taking my first trip to Medellín in September, and have a few questions that I haven't been able to find answers in the forums. 1. I've read Grindr is a good place to meet local guys. When I use Grindr Explore and place my location in Medellín, I see very few gringos, and fewer over 40 like me. Is now, July, just a slow tourist season in Medellín? Or are guys using other apps to hook up? I've cruised through mileroticos and found it very helpful. 2. Many Airbnbs state that "Visitors must present an original physical ID where their identity can be validated." I understand that there are many Venezuelan migrants living in Medellín. Is it likely that they will have physical IDs that meet this requirement? I don't want to sound ignorant. I'm just not familiar with the politics of migration and attitudes towards migrants. I'm hoping it's better than in the US. 3. I understand that many CB models live in Medellín. Is there a particular part of town where the studios are concentrated, so I change my Grindr explore location to there? Or do many guys just broadcast from their own residences? 4. Lastly, and most sensitive, is what are the general attitudes towards PREP and condom use? I'm negative and on prep and prefer bare. However, I don't want pressure anyone into an activity that makes them uncomfortable. In Mexico, which I'm used to, many guys just charge an additional fee for bare. Is a photo of my current prescription via Grindr or WhatsApp sufficient to satisfy some safety concerns, or are guys pretty adamant about condom usage? I'm fine either way. Thanks for any feedback! Just like in Thailand, I prefer the safety that they know who is in your room in case anything goes south, guys are less likely to act up because we know their real name, not a made up stage name. Not all airbnb's are liberal with guests, so ensure this before booking. Ask if guests are allowed, specify if overnight or visitors, they're not stupid, they will know what's up and tell you yes or no. Many have digital Cedulas, so see if this will be accepted. In theory, Venezuelans need a passport (valid/expired < 10 years) or a residence permit (PEP/PPT). In practice, their venezuelan ID card is almost always accepted. If not, you can use a love motel. I don't think Venezuelans have digital cedulas. The only guys I met with digital ID cards were Colombians. For some reason, they can't take a screenshot of their digital ID, so I normally take a picture with my phone of their screen and send it to the hotel / airBnB. Until now, that has always been accepted. 3. They are scattered around town. Poblado is probably the commune with the fewest studios. Most models still work in webcam studios. 4. On both trips, when booking the hotel, I put two guests and when arrived for check in I wrote down the second guest’s name “full name”, and saying he arrives later. Normally, before trip, I chatted and or arranged with a few potential hot guys I wanted to have fun with. Also getting to know their lives and perspective on various issues. I prefer guy “25 years old plus on the first meeting” who can hold up with good conversations and enjoy life. The kind with normal occupation during the day and escort on the side when needed extra cash. Once it all settled, I focused on those young and beautiful one. Met up with three really hot guys from Venezuela, introduced by a much older one I hired on the first night. It worked well by taking people out for food and socialize with the local. It paid out handsomely, he gave me some tips and guided me to the right direction. I ended up paying a local price for a super hot times. The technique worked well for other cities. I enjoy varieties and all shades of colors so I ventured out to Cali. Wow wow, money and time were well spent. so cheap. The meat is much darker and larger, I did find some cute twink. No one asked for extra cost for barebacking and seeding. For a new visitor or solo traveler who doesn’t speak Spanish best to stay in Granada area where all amenities, facilities, convenient, western hotels, all the bars & clubs and security. This area seems and looks safe. It is a busy area, people staying out late during night. Parallels Avenida 8 Norte and 9 Norte, between Calle 10 Norte and 15 Norte called comuna 3 “Cali Gay Area” recommended for places to stay and visiting bars and clubs. Local government and travel organizers are promoting for safety,hip luxurious hotel and boutique one are located. I was with local guys most of the times and felt safe however, during late night with less people on the street, anything could happens especially if you are alone. Always use Uber or taxi. Bars and clubs are busy with youngsters on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, the rest of the week is very quiet. Drink and food arereasonable price. I found it difficult to get the hot guys due to noise unlike the sauna where all the choices is endless with young and beautiful, I picked phisicus 21 club. Cali has a huge black population and choices of color is fabulous, I love beautiful tan and tight fit body. If you enjoy going out, enjoy the loud music, drinking and being among the young people this area is definitely for you. I prefer a more authentic club and bar with traditional food and music of salsa “was told cali is where the tango originated “. A local friends recommended to stay in an area between San Antonio and Milaflores neighborhood with less tourists and less expensive hotel, right at the foot of the mountain where the statue of Cristi Rey stands here you really experience their culture and the way of life. San Antonio area is a lovely area to stay and I highly recommend. It has all the characters and charm of an old town and close to Granada where all the gay places are located. Places to visit, personally I love nature. Walk along the Cali river up to Botanical jardin, zoological, and butterflies farm. Certainly cheaper compare to Medellin, Bogota and other tourist cities along the shores. Bringing friends and or guys to the hotel, need to register their name on the first night. Tomtravel Posted August 11 Share Posted August 11 I would checkout Cali Club sauna for the weekend (friday i guess). Guys in Phisicus told me that hot and beautiful are there partying. I visited the place midweek and there were 2-3 people, one was a nice muscle guy who actually wanted to have fun. speedoo1 Posted August 11 Share Posted August 11 Cali Club is THE place /sauna on Sunday afternoons (maybe also Saturday, idk). Lots of young guys partying/having a blast. I wouldn’t go there during weekdays. Phisicus on the other hand can also be busy during weekdays, depend on pay days, Colombian holidays etc. Phisicus 21 and blackandwhite are different concepts. The first is a gay sauna you visit in the late afternoon/early evening (and late Saturday nights) whereas the nearby blackandwhite is a sex club (not a sauna) with different themes every night; gets busy evening/late nights during weekends. It closes 2AM. For the exact reasons stated by previous poster I prefer Cali rather than Medellin. You get much more value for the money; the rent guys in Medellin have been spoiled by the high influx of tourists/sex visitors. Speedoo1 explained it. blackandwhite is a sex club and those guys had an exact type and age in mind. Being 50 plus and foreigner, not easy to get an acceptance unless you are very fit, great looking and exactly their type then sex club is for you.
